(61,698 posts)Looks like obstruction of justice could be reaffirmed as a behavior patter for trump.
Whitaker needs to ask himself if trump is worth going to prison for, worth losing his law license for.

(10,887 posts)Sir, I see you are looking at our new special Long Dong tank toilet. Might I ask, when you sit on a normal toilet to do your number two business...does your frank or your beans droop into the water?
Yes, well, thats a big problem for some guys...would you like to try our new deep bowl that will solve that problem.
Just go ahead and drop trou and have a seat.
I will turn my head to give you some privacy.

GOP ranking member Doug Collins downplayed all of this - saying Whitaker didnt confirm any conversations with Trump; it was not unusual to talk about US attorneys (didnt specify whom); and says talk about SDNY probe going too far was NOT with Trump

(1,588 posts)these damn Republicans will lie no matter what. They will lie even if there is a transcribed record. If we don't have public hearings we will have a matter of national security. We will have our democracy taken away.

(13,526 posts)the hearing, Mr Whitaker did not deny that the president
called to discuss the Michael Cohen case and the personnel
decisions in the Southern district.
2) Whitaker was directly involved in conversations on whether
to fire at least one US attorney
3) Whitaker involved in discussions about scope of the SDNY
attorney Bermans recusal and whether SDNY went too far
in pursuing the campaign finance case where Trump was individual 1

That's why I'm struggling with Pelosi's rejection of impeachment, among other things:
- If GW etc had been impeached or at least if his administration was forced to face consequences for their crimes, Trump never would have happened. From Nixon to Reagan to Bush they all got away with it. Wrong wrong wrong
- Trump has been committing impeachable crimes since Day 1: emoluments, nepotism, obstruction of justice, corruption, on and on. I'm just an everyday citizen and I could write the articles myself.
- He is clearly unfit, mentally ill, worsening dementia
- Every single day he finds another way to hurt the country. How much more damage before it's over?
- Clinton was impeached for purely cynical, political reasons, for a "crime" that was more properly adjudicated in private with his family and his mistress. Impeachment of Trump would NOT be on a bullshit basis, and most Americans get that. So using that as a reason for Democrats to delay doing the right thing does not sit well. It is not a given that we'll lose in 2020 if we impeach Trump, at least in my opinion.
- Today I watched Andrea Mitchell say "Republicans will NEVER vote to convict." Well, never say never. The evidence laid out in the trial may very well change their minds. We can't know that until it happens, and again, every single DAY, damage is being done. Children stolen from their families and incarcerated. Public lands seized to be handed to private development for private profit. Historic deficits. It's an avalanche of wrongdoing.
- Impeachment is the constitutional remedy for a president who cannot or will not govern capably and in good faith. At what point exactly do we decide the bar has been reached?
I have huge respect for Pelosi and will trust her on this. But my misgivings are really huge.
