Please. Stop. PATRONIZING. Women. Please stop substituting YOUR judgement for their wishes

Doing so under the guise of protecting women is nothing more than an old Republican hack trick. Doing so while trying to drum up some furor over Julian Assange patronizes all women and REALLY insults rape survivors, of which there are MANY.

Stop this.

Stop trying to usurp the judgement of these women for your own, even *if* you *think* you're right.

Each time you do it, you insult ALL women. And some of us Laydees don't like that shit.

Really. As a two time rape survivor, I can *promise* you, no one goes after the rapists that are actually *sought* as perpetrators by their *victims* let alone this circus for two women who say they're not.

Julian led his supporters down a path and when it turns out he was lying, they are doubling down. They should instead start suspecting Julian and his motives. On several of these threads now I have linked to the translation made by Bodhi Blood wave of the words of these women. They DO want the law to go after them. Julian is just lying.

How can any rape survivor condone women backing off on any such charges, not want Julian punished if he's guilty and not applaud Sweden for making such acts illegal?

Women backing off on rape charges often is because the rapist is a boyfriend who they've unwisely made up with at that point, or even that they are afraid of or threatened (and that certainly could be the case here).

Further the legal system often proceeds when the victims do this, in domestic violence situations, for that very reason. If they have proof other than the victim's statement, or they subpoena the victim. As I woman I would never condone backing down and forgiving a rape. Condonation is not a defense in the US criminal law and it may not be in Sweden's (we don't know from this case, since these women DO want the case to continue).
