Yep. Tillis is in trouble in NC. He barely won against Kay Hagan. octoberlib Mar 2019 #4
And Gardner is in a blue state where he barely won by 2 percent in a red wave year. bearsfootball516 Mar 2019 #7

I'd add Narco Rubio and Roger Wicked to that list.

Rubio's very much of the banana republic school of governance: i.e. that Trump should rule like a right-wing Latin American despot (but with blonde hookers, rather than brunettes).

And Roger Wicker? Well, you know what his local Republican base is like:

he's between a rock and a hard place. we have a blue wave going on here in NC. Republicans are the scourge of the earth.

i called him to urge him to keep his promise. now i'll have to call to remind him he's going to lose in 2020.

It is pretty much set in stone at 2/3 majority in both Chambers.

The one where he said he would rally military service members, law enforcement personnel, and motorcyclists to rise up against his liberal foes.

I don't envy the advisers who had to deliver the news -- before the vote -- that the RepubliCON Senate would not toe his line. Maybe afterwards, said advisors brought him a double serving of ice cream, or the Arby's two-for-$5 fish sandwich special. (I can hear his arteries clogging from where I sit here in Jacksonville FL). And I'll resist the temptation to point out cadet bone spur's lack of honor, duty and loyalty to the Constitution (not to mention integrity, honesty, etc.) At least for now, anyway.

Whoever has the "football" (the satchel with the hardware to transmit the nuclear codes to the personnel who could trigger Armageddon) should stay well out of reach of this very unstable creature for the foreseeable future. While his BFFs in Russia and North Korea would love nothing better than to see our nation self-destruct, I'm hoping cooler -- and more stable and loyal -- heads are prevailing where it counts most.

What a fucking nightmare!

A few repubs get to play tough but not enough to override a veto.

They get to have their cake and eat it too.

Democrats cannot override a veto.

The power is completely in the republicans' hands.

By not making this vote veto proof, the rest of Republicans just told Trump that they don’t care. He can break any law, violate the Constitution, arbitrarily spend whatever money he wants and on anything he wants and they will not stand up and say a word. What a bunch of irresponsible, chickenshits who are so afraid of being primaried that they can’t stand up to an irrational incompetent like Trump. Why do they even want to be re-elected when Trump keeps taking away their power. In two more years, the Senate will have only one function: approving right-wing judges who will try their best to destroy democracy for everyone but white heterosexual men.
