NPR corrects Family Research Council "misstatement" about President's comments

This morning, I listened to NPR’s Steve Inskeep interview with Connie Mackey about the support her organization is giving to Todd Akin, in spite of his comments.

She attempted to diffuse criticism of Akin’s remarks by deferring to Obama’s comments of last week. She quoted Obama as saying:

Men should have no business doing any legislation on women’s issues

…calling his comment “horrendous.”

Inskeep challenged her assertion to which she replied “You can look this up.” Inskeep said they at NPR would do so and she responded with, “…and I hope you report on it.”

Well, NPR did follow up and this is what Obama really said about Akin’s comments:

What I think these comments do underscore is why we shouldn’t have a bunch of politicians, a majority of whom are men, making health-care decisions on behalf of women.

Not exactly what Mackey wanted us to believe he said.

I also learned a new phrase, "Going into the weeds."

It doesn't matter what Obama says, it won't be right. I still marvel that he can be so congenial when he has all this **** thrown at him, day after day after day.

Why are the Republican women without comment? Oh, yeah...being submissive, I guess.

by interviewing them in the first place. Their correction is too little, too weak, too late.

He said exactly what Macke said he said ...

I guess NPR didn't get the Democratic Speech Translator-Media Edition.

It's actually, a neat little contraption. It allows the user to hear what any Democrat is REALLY saying be removing words, changing the tense of words, or by just plain making up words.

The device fits in the user's ear and is almost invisible ... except for that thick a$$ wire that connects directly to the tin-foil hat (sold separately, but necessary for the operation of the translator).

So you equate "Men should have no business doing any legislation on women’s issues" with "...we shouldn't have a bunch of politicians, a majority of whom are men, making health-care decisions on behalf of women"???

"Men should" is the same as "a bunch of politicians, a majority of whom are men"???

"Doing any legislation on women's issues" is the same as "making health-care decisions on behalf of women"???

You really think these statements are the same?

He didn't say what the anti-choice proponent said he said. It's that simple.

I would have thought the "Democratic Speech Translator" description would have made the sarcasm thingy unnecessary. I guess I guessed wrong.

So to make it clear ... I WAS BEING SARCASTIC!

They lie.

And they know they lie.

And they don't care.

And they've been doing it for twenty years.
