New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said she told President Trump that the U.S. should offer Muslim communities "sympathy and love" after at least 49 people were killed in Christchurch mosque shootings Friday.

Ardern said she gave Trump the advice after he asked what the U.S. could do to help New Zealand, according to The Guardian.

Trump said on Twitter that that he spoke with Ardern after the massacre, but did not mention her comment.

Worshippers were gunned down at two New Zealand mosques on Friday. In addition to the 49 killed, dozens more were injured.

Trump has had a contentious relationship with the Muslim community, including calling for a ban on Muslim immigration during his presidential campaign. On Friday, a top official of a prominent Muslim-American group said that Trump bears some responsibility for rising Islamophobia.

The president condemned the attack earlier Friday, calling it a "horrible massacre."

There is no denial, apology, condolence or empty word that will change that. Trump is incapable of “sympathy and love”, Trump is clearly an international threat.

Words that came out of Jacinda Ardern's mouth that would likely never come out of any Republican leader's mouth here in the USA.

Hate is all he knows how to spread. Well, that plus an overabundance of BULLSHIT.

He sure throws that word "love" around a lot, like when he said "I love Otto (Warmbier)", but still could not express the most basic sentiment of compassion or sympathy.

I remember when he spoke to disaster victims in Houston saying "what a crowd, what a turnout" and "have a good time" when he left. Before going he'd said, "We are going to have a little fun today".

Almost every word that we consider to be caring and civilized is awkward and uncomfortable for him. He can't even use the word "beautiful" in the proper context, i.e. dead babies or clean coal.

Trump is like some caricature on a bad situation comedy, but he is a real person running the free world.

alternate reality. Sometimes he seems like an alien impersonating an earthling who doesn't really understand the language or culture. Star Trek's Data was able to show more genuine empathy than this freak.

For a man who talks incessantly, he sure doesn't know how to really say anything, unless it is angry, hateful, or mean.
