https://www.unilad.co.uk/technology/you-can-now-buy-a-gun-that-looks-like-an-iphone/Just when you thought the world wasnt dangerous enough already, someone has decided to invent a gun that looks exactly like a smartphone.
Yeah, really. Minnesota-based manufacturer Ideal Conceal have made a double-barrelled pistol, which can carry two bullets and even has laser sights.
The .380 calibre handgun can be folded up to look like your bog-standard smartphone and is expected to go on sale in the U.S. in the coming months, Business Insider UK reports.
According to its manufacturer, it has been designed to hide in plain sight and easily fits into a purse or back pocket, making it virtually undetectable. Terrifying, basically.
On their website, it says:
The idea for Ideal Conceal follows the present-day demand for handguns that people can carry on a day to day basis, in a manner that makes carrying a gun easy to do. From soccer moms to professionals of every type, this gun allows you the option of not being a victim. European police have now been warned to remain vigilant as its expected to be imported illegally into the continent after its release.

(45,563 posts)they'll shoot the bystander too, just in case. And shoot anyone else who might have a phone, because it might be a gun.
And guns have made it through TSA security screening onto planes several times, so this phone design makes it that much easier to slip through in a bag or something.

(7,820 posts)Thought this would increase the risk of police shootings. Now even if they can tell it looks like a phone... well, is it really a phone? This is just a horrible idea on so many levels.

(2,156 posts)They're basically compensating for other shortcomings anyway. If it's a personal weapon and you have no job-related reason for carrying, I say design them to resemble dildos and require a firm but gentle squeeze to fire off a round
I don't see embarrassment as any infringement of the right to bear arms
