https://www.fodors.com/news/cruises/this-promises-to-be-the-dumbest-cruise-everAnd now this unfortunate trend is headed into the open ocean. The Flat Earth International Conference (FEIC) has just announced that it will be holding its 2020 conference on a cruise. Details on the cruise are scarce (much like their evidence that the Earth is flat) but a banner on the FEICs website promises that it will be the biggest, boldest, adventure yet.
Compounding the joke is where theyre not going. If you were to hazard a guess as to what a yet-to-be-named destination for Flat Earthers taking a cruise might be, youd be foolish not to guess Antarctica. It is, after all, where you go to prove that the Earth is flat, according to Flat Earthers who believe that we all live on a flat disc. At the edge of that disc is the continent of Antarctica which acts as a barrier that keeps us from falling off.
The only thing that Flat Earthers need to do to legitimize their existence is to take a cruise to Antartica and sail around it. But, while they have yet to announce where theyre going, in a statement to the DailyMail.com, FEIC founder Robbie Davidson said Antartica is the one place they wont be going. The 2020 trip is just a cruise and the group isnt on a mission to find the ice shore at the end of the world yet.
The fact that Flat Earthers arent in a hurry to prove the very thing that defines them and would rather upgrade to that premium beverage package and luxuriate under Caribbean rays (which, according to them, emanates from a sun that rotates parallel to the Earth around the North Pole) doesnt make the matter less ironic or embarrassing. Someone should check on Galileos severed fingers because theyre surely spinning in their glass jars.

(4,627 posts)What do flat earther idiots think about climate change? If that ice barrier melts all of Earth's water will run off like bath water going down the drain. Scary.

(101,361 posts)a flat earth, with evidence. Can't use the stars, since they're the primary evidence for a globe. Can't use a magnetic compass, since where's the magnetic south pole in their model? Can't use GPS, because that uses satellites, which Flat Earthers say don't exist. Can't use maps and charts drawn in the last 1500 years, since they all assume a globe.
Better stay within site of the home port, just in case. After all, Flat Earthers think you won't lose sight of that for a long time, since there's no horizon from any curvature of the Earth's surface. When they lose sight from near the waterline, they could then be taken up to the highest point possible of the ship, and then asked if they're familiar with the idea of lookout posts and crow's nests in ships ...
