Again: the OBSTRUCTION was Trump's COLLUSION.

I don't remember who first made this point, but it's correct.

He knew that his people had been colluding with the Russians, but stayed out of the details to maintain deniability. But he OBSTRUCTED the investigation in many ways, to keep his campaign's collusion from being uncovered. That was his part of the conspiracy -- protecting it with his power.

They never came up with proof that Nixon planned, approved or knew about the break-in beforehand. It was the coverup that would have got him impeached and probably convicted if he hadn't resigned first. And he would have been tried for related crimes, including obstruction of justice, if Ford hadn't pardoned him.
