Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsToday, I was watching a rerun of Judge Judy. She eviscerated a MAGAt in front of 10M people
and she took the entire half hour to do it. They usually cram two cases into the half hour. Not today. This asshole keyed the plainatiff's car in a theater parking lot merely for having a Hillary Clinton sticker on it. They were complete strangers. He put a 6-foot scratch on the driver's side and another 2-foot scratch on the hood. The guy looked like your typical arrogant MAGAt. As JJ was grilling him, he turned beet red, even though he tried telling her it was a case of mistaken identity. She wasn't buying it. The plaintiff luckily brought a witness with her, a lovely woman whom she'd never met. The woman was walking along and saw him peering into the plaintiff's car. She thought he had locked his keys in his car, but as she was nearing the car with an offer to help (she had a coat hanger in her car because she had locked herself out of her car a week or so prior) she heard an awful scratching sound. Then she saw him key the hood. She said that she was quite taken aback because she'd never seen anything like that before, and about that same time, they locked eyes. He quickly turned around and walked towards the theater. She then saw him get into a car along with a woman and a young man who were waiting for him a distance away and they drove away. She managed to get his license plate number. The woman turned out to be his girlfriend and her son. Judge Judy also embarrassed his girlfriend, completely dismantling the lie the MAGAt had just told. Judge Judy had the smarts to ask the girlfriend to leave the courtroom before anybody said a word so she didn't know what he was testifying to. This happened in Austin, Texas.
Judgement to the plaintiff in the amount of $2,626.42 and she commended the witness for being a good citizen. She also told the girlfriend to leave his ass because anybody that would have her lie in front of 10M people was a horrible person and not worth her time.
It was a thing of beauty. If anybody wants to be entertained, it's S23 Ep52 which originally aired on 10/31/18.
Here's to you, Judge Judy:

(12,219 posts)So when she found the MAGAt guilty, the the show paid the plaintiff the $2,626.42.
None-the-less, most of those shows give out actual names of the litigants, so it's very awesomeand a long lecture, to boot!
acting out small claims cases that occurred within the last several years.
None of the rewards are real for the show but likely matchedvthe results of the cases they arr recreating.

(34,423 posts)flew in from Michigan for the show a couple of years ago. The show pays the judgments, but they're not actors--at least these folks weren't.

(12,219 posts)There are others in which they use actors, though. One that comes to mind is America's Judge. There's a fast moving disclaimer at the end.

(46,076 posts)The fines are real, but the show pays them.

(11,088 posts)I promise you they are. i have been asked to be a litigant on judge judy. "real people" does not mean "not actors." it just means they are people.

(46,076 posts)Who said he'd been on Judge Judy and received his settlement immediately at the end.
He was suing a woman who'd unfairly had him arrested for something. It was one of the liberal radio shows, I think Thom Hartmann. He was not an actor.

ETA: I will admit i dont care for Judge Judy from the start. Seen her MANY times as my mom would have her on in the afternoons. Judge Judy is ignorant of so many modern things, such as how text messages work, but would still render her "Judgements" regardless of incorrect assumptions. Not to mention her loudmouth scolding of Someone on EVERY case before her. Why? Because thats what gets her the ratings. Just like this case. The people dont care because the show pays the judgements & they get on TV.
