just a few Sunday morning thoughts....

It is a nice morning - time with our new Foster pup, NY times, music, just roasted coffee, about to head out to garden - I scanned headlines here and elsewhere. My for-what-it's-worth opinion (and that ain't much!)...

Looking at the big picture - weather events and the general direction of politics in the World - Africa, New Zealand, the UK, the middle East - and looking at the mess that is the US...

Progress is hard. Change is hard. Well, positive, progress-oriented change is hard. It takes mental effort, fortitude, people being bigger about things, thinking beyond their own comfort zone. I am sure looking back through all of human history, we've seen this - periods of upheaval and change - oscillating between good change and bad change.

We are in a pretty deep well of bad change right now....myriad reasons - apathy, the tribal impact of social networking, intellectual laziness, propaganda (right wing hate radio, right wing hate TV, foreign meddling in critical decisions), truly bad TV, reflex reactions to change. Somehow, right wing/fundamental religion is way too influential (relatively speaking). Somehow, a positive (election and presidency of Obama) brought out lots of bad behavior that never did go away - just simmered below the surface.

Trump is like a big trigger for many of us - he is the class bully, the favored student that never did a thing to earn anything, the ignoramus, an example of true willful ignorance. The Repub party and Trump supporters are those that protected the bully - kowtowing to him. They reflect and revel in and wallow in the ignorance - they don't stand for anything, they stand against us - against progress, against positive change. They can't see beyond the end of their own needs, they are fearful of losing that which they think they have (an illusion - what do they have, really, except their small little lives?)

But - again, returning to the big picture, there are things that are being ignored but are coming at us anyway. Climate change, for sure. Financial collapse? Perhaps. The results of corruption, of meddling - the destabilization of things.

What do we do when the forces aligned against positive change are so rampant, so powerful? I don't think we can lose hope - instead of apathy, and this is my approach, we make differences where and when we can - we lead by example, we hope, we love our families and friends.

I've got such severe trump fatigue that I really can't dive into the details any longer. The Mueller report? Who knows what will happen now. I can't - will not - get caught up in the microsecond reaction and stress. There is a life to live - there are differences to make.

Anyway, as I head out to transplant hundreds of baby tomato plants, that's my current state of mind.

Happy Sunday all - be well - enjoy the day!
