Al-Qaida websites vow 'destruction' of SEAL member outed by Fox News

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/08/24/1123813/-Al-Qaida-websites-vow-destruction-of-SEAL-member-outed-by-Fox-News

Users on several militant Islamic websites affiliated with al-Qaida have posted the name and photo of a former Navy SEAL identified as the author of an upcoming book on the commando raid that killed Osama bin Laden. The posts called for his "destruction" in revenge for the al-Qaida founder’s killing.

The formerly anonymous SEAL was publicly identified by Fox News yesterday for unclear reasons. The identities of SEAL Team 6 members have been withheld since the raid due to the possibility of retaliation attempts against them.

His book must have been somehow complimentary of Obama administrations efforts to nail OBL.

If he'd been dissing the President, he'd be pixelated, auto-toned voice, and giving an in-person "anonymous" interview to Sean Hannity

I'd probably force myself into his house and take his computer, address book, rolodex, or anything else that could have my name on it that an Al Qaeda operative could steal and get my name, and burn them. Then I'd put the asshole up against a wall and tell him NEVER EVER speak my name ever again and put me in jeopardy, or I'll kick your ass bigtime.

These SEAL Team members are in jeopardy now, and they know it.

I would be willing to bet $10,000 in Monoply money with Rupert Murdochs picture glued on the bill. With his name out there Fox could offer protection money and time on Billo's clown show. When you can screw a Prime Minister how hard would it be to mess with an American serviceman off the reservation?

SAN DIEGO — The wife of Capt. Will Rogers III, skipper of the San Diego-based Vincennes, escaped unharmed Friday morning moments before a pipe bomb exploded under her van, igniting a fire that gutted her vehicle at a busy La Jolla intersection.

...be looking him up. I don't think I can recall a member of the military breaking with protocol and not clearing a book with the White House/CIA before publication like this, despite superficial similarities to recent leaks: Pentagon papers was from a report the Rand corporation was in possession of, "Cablegate" leak (i.e. Manning/Assange) was a leak of a database that approximately 3 million Americans or contractors already had access to and the Pentagon's attempt to purchase of the entire print run (in order to destroy it) of "“Operation Dark Heart" appears to have its root in some kind of cock-up in the information vetting process, itself.

So, AFAIK, this is actually a unique situation or at least one which has not happened in quite some time.

...said the first time he'd ever heard of the book was that day. CIA also says they were not contacted about vetting the book. If he was "cleared" in some official capacity to pen the book then one of the conditions would certainly be that it be submitted for a scrub of sensitive material. Even stuff most of us would consider totally unimportant, e.g. mentioning offhandedly that the stealth helicopters they were riding in often had operational problems. That sort of thing. Nobody even knew those things existed before one of them broke down.

I imagine there'd be quite a lot to go over.
