MARCH 24, 2019
Washington, D.C. Today, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer released the following statement regarding Attorney General Barrs summary of the Mueller report:
Attorney General Barrs letter raises as many questions as it answers. The fact that Special Counsel Muellers report does not exonerate the president on a charge as serious as obstruction of justice demonstrates how urgent it is that the full report and underlying documentation be made public without any further delay. Given Mr. Barrs public record of bias against the Special Counsels inquiry, he is not a neutral observer and is not in a position to make objective determinations about the report.
And most obviously, for the president to say he is completely exonerated directly contradicts the words of Mr. Mueller and is not to be taken with any degree of credibility.
Congress requires the full report and the underlying documents so that the Committees can proceed with their independent work, including oversight and legislating to address any issues the Mueller report may raise. The American people have a right to know.

=============
In light of the very concerning discrepancies and final decision making at the Justice Department following the Special Counsel report, where Mueller did not exonerate the President, we will be calling Attorney General Barr in to testify before @HouseJudiciary in the near future.

Mr. Barr will be under oath, as well...

(6,254 posts)rant and rave the past 2 years. American justice is blind and now beleaguered after the spectacle of the Manafort sentencing and now this charade. I guess the law doesnt mean what I thought it means. Why should anyone bother to tell the truth any more. Who cares.... does it even make a difference. Lie, scheme and cheat thats ok in the banana republic of the USA.

(21,642 posts)my wife is disabled and the last two years have been terror for us, not knowing when or if we'd lose her benefits. at least mccain stopped that and we have the house now to prevent further damage.
but... any faith i had in the criminal justice system is pretty much shattered. if the dems ever get control of both houses and the white house a MASSIVE anti-government corruption package needs to be passed. 4 years we have to put up with drumpf because he tiptoes JUST ENOUGH on the precipice of doubt to avoid impeachment.

I dumped my righty friends & family years ago but I understand it must be very annoying. Just remember, justice is rarely served in a fascist society.

(5,997 posts)Can't trust any Trump apparatchik. Wait until the full report is released.
Mueller said Trump not exonerated on obstruction. Mueller used an impossibly high standard for conspiracy. Obstruction is well established so they had to be obstructing something. Gory details will follow that no one can defend.
