Boeing bringing in hundreds for 737 MAX meetings this week

The Boeing Co. has invited more than 200 airline pilots, technical leaders and regulators to the home of its assembly of the 737 MAX in Renton on Wednesday to provide more details on its work to return the aircraft to service.

That follows meetings with some U.S. customers over the weekend, which Boeing confirmed via email to the Wichita Business Journal.

Company spokesperson Paul Bergman says Boeing continues to schedule meetings to share information, all as it works alongside the Federal Aviation Administration on its planned software upgrades for the grounded jets.

“We’ve also been working diligently and in close cooperation with the FAA on the software update,” he said. “We are taking a comprehensive and careful approach to design, develop and test the software that will ultimately lead to certification. At the same time, we continue to work closely with our customers and regulators on software and training updates for the 737 MAX. Boeing is paying for the development of these updates.”
