Thinking out loud here. If Putin's goal is to sow chaos in America and

Drumpf succeeds in thwarting meaningful investigations, what would Putin's 2020 move be? It could be he would "discover" a plot to manipulate the 2016 election in concert with GOP and conduct a few show trials in Russia. Or he could release the pee tapes. Of course if his goal is to make the U.S. a wholly owned subsidiary, he wouldn't do that. Complicated.

is that the Russians are fully aware he fucks up everything he touches and they wanted to be successful.

But, then again, that's why they chose to back putting him in office... He fucks up everything he touches.
