(5,810 posts)Of what he thought they would. Except for his minions, of course. But for regular folk, it wore thin to hear him (and others) repeat the line even when it sounded odd or inappropriate to what was asked. He just went too far with it and to many, it sounded like a guilty mans way of denying responsibility for a crime.
He needs to face up to the fact that the bloom is off the rose for a lot of people and that accounts for why his numbers are not improving and a sizable number of those polled already know they wont be voting for that sh*t stain ever again. It will take an outright miracle (or political shenanigans) to turn this around.

(90,708 posts)...43% said Trump and the rest said "a Dem," EXCEPT for the 17% who said, "IT DEPENDS ON THE DEMOCRAT."
So it is literally 43% to 43% until you peel off the 17% of nominal Dems who I'm guessing like to boast that they "vote for principle over party." If they stick to that, Trump wins handily next year.
At which point my husband sighed and reminded me that they can't hear me yell through the tv set.
Here's what I think: Forget about trying to convert Trump's truest base, which is racist and misogynist and is so happy he is there validating their pathetic lives. Work on that 17% who somehow still have not learned that not voting for the Democrat in the General Election means a net vote for the GOP candidate.
