Trump Picks Up My “Pencil Neck” Nickname for Schiff

RUSH: Hey, look at this. Cookie informed me of this today. Grab audio sound bite number 1. This is the first time I ever called Adam Schiff Pencil Neck. It was March 15, 2017, right here on this program.
He's been attacking Adam Schiff since the first time he crossed Nunes as ranking member on the committee as part of the attacks on the 'deep state' in defense of Trump. And the Nunes memo was released just before the start of the Limbaugh show so he could start the spin.
The buzz talk radio creates is a huge part of the ability of Trump to intimidate and enable Republicans and keep them from turning on him. It gets media to greatly overestimate the size and power of his base. If media or Dems finally polled for talk radio it would probably show his true base is just like the original Tea Party - a 2-5% rabid base puffed up and amplified by a few hundred think tank-scripted blowhards on 1500 radio stations, with Fox doing the cartoon Cliff Notes for visual reinforcement. Most of the rest of the authoritarian Republicans will just keep voting R to keep taxes and brown people and socialists (as defined by talk radio and Fox) to a minimum. And, of course, concerned media getting the buzz second and third hand debate if the Democratic primary field is too 'left', 'socialist'.
Right around inauguration Limbaugh started blaming Obama, Clinton, and Soros etc for starting a coup attempt that morphed into the Mueller Report, based off the Steele Dossier and other shit. Someone fed this scenario to him to sell at that early stage and we shouldn't be surprised if it didn't originally come from the Kremlin. In a list below of a few of his show segments the last few days it's clear he's ramping up the attacks on President Obama. Democrats can continue to ignore that but if Republicans still held the House it would guarantee that Nunes would be doing everything possible to get Obama and his administration under oath and doing everything possible to get them in jail.
At the very least, ignoring the talk radio buzz, no matter how baseless or irrational, will give Republicans leverage to force compromise from Democrats, especially Dems in talk radio states, also known as red states.
By ignoring talk radio Democrats cannot collectively say they've got Adam Schiff's back - or any other Democrat. Democrats really need to stop ignoring Republican talk radio and team Limbaugh's part in this disaster.

and if dems are successful with these investigations it will get more serious. in one segment, i think a whole hour used to attack AOC, limbaugh already created a silly pretext to repeat the phrase "take her out" aimed at AOC.
democrats ignored his attacks on christine "ballsey" ford for 3 weeks straight while he called her a liar and 'democrat' operative, like we ignored his attacks on anita hill, and the result was the same.

(9,090 posts)part in the clarence thomas tragedy and he regrets it but basically team limbaugh got a bunch of racists to come to thomas's defense and because talk radio was invisible to dems, senate democrats whose staffs were getting screamed at over the phone took the 'outrage' as legitimate and it had weight. that's the same dynamic still going on with claire mckaskill for instance, responding to the anti immigrant bullshit as if it was legitimate instead of coming out of limbaugh's amplified ass.

(9,090 posts)calls for violence, in his 'subtle' way..... he called a sandra fluke a whore and came out on the bad end of that losing a lot of advertisers thanks to a very few dedicated activists who were focused on his misogyny and his alone.
the radio advertising industry took a hit in general.
his days as a deity are numbered if dems finally restart that activism - with AI-assisted transcription digitizing large samples of rw radio for analysis is easy and cheap and listing it's advertisers and associating them with content will cause the ad industry to finally apply market forces to the 20-1 monopoly. politicizing talk radio advertising will cause a lot of those stations to switch programming to get advertisers back. anything less than a 20-1 monopoly means they'll get competition and correction and lose their ability to sell lies. talk radio will be democratized as soon as democrats and the left start seriously calling team limbaugh out.
as far as name calling adam schiff and any democrat or any serious media person could go a long way vs republican media hacks and politicians by prefacing any response to them with "well... that's what limbaugh says all day but...."
