A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds half of registered voters say they are very uncomfortable with President Trumps candidacy for re-election while an additional 9% say they have some reservations.
Among those saying theyre very uncomfortable are at least half of several traditional swing voter groups, such as independents (50% saying they are very uncomfortable), suburban women (56%) and moderates (57%).
In contrast, just 26% of voters overall say theyre enthusiastic about Trumps 2020 bid, with another 14% saying they are comfortable.

(63,221 posts)This country won't survive another four years of Trump. Look at how much damage he has done in only two years. And I don't think we will even be aware of the full impact of the past two years until another two years from now.

(32,791 posts)... and that was a problem in 2016. Don't get me wrong I love Hillary Clinton and I thought she would have made an outstanding president. But the independents and the right-wingers did not, and the GOP used misogyny and racism to get their totally unacceptable candidate into the White House. It's something we can't overlook, and we cannot allow it to happen again. If the swing voters are more comfortable with Joe Biden than with, say, Kamala Harris, then it's a big thing and we need to work with it. Let's remember that voting for Obama was "comfortable" for a majority of Americans regardless of individual voter demographics.

(5,812 posts)I don't mean dislike, I mean hated. This group of friends consists of professional women all 65+ to late 70s. Most of them passed their POTUS votes and would not vote for her -- or for that orange asshole.
I was never a fan of Hillary, but I never hated her and she was by far, by really, really far, a better choice than the POS in the WH now. But, hell yes, voted for her. However, living in CA, it did not make on bit of difference in where the state's electoral votes went. But not vote a straight Dem ticket? That thought never crossed my mind.
I think you did hit on a good word: "Uncomfortable." My male then-roommate was truly uncomfortable with her. He was in his 80s at the time of the 2016 election (passed away in Dec 2018), and he was at one time a conservative Repub. Got more and more liberal as he aged. Supported Bernie like crazy, but not hot on Hillary at all.

(63,221 posts)It's interesting, because they were all pretty much in the same demographic as Hillary. Just curious as to why they disliked her so strongly.

(5,812 posts)It was not the affair, but most felt that staying with Bill was unacceptable and not because he had cheated. The affair itself -- many would forgive a spouse of straying -- but that she stay because with Bill because it was advantageous to her political goals -- that was offensive. It was not what they thought an independent woman should do and a bad role model for young women. That's the best I could understand why they disliked her so much. Add that many found her untrustworthy as well.
