I was thinking about this today, to run for President you must release your tax returns and be cleared for at least a secret clearance to run for President. Needs some new laws.

I can't accept letting the government pick and choose who gets to run for office. That's a recipe for some horrible corruption.

But the decision must rest with the people, not the government.

Imagine if Hillary or Obama were denied clearance. We'd know it was republican who corrupted the process, but what could we do about it?

We'd be screwed, plain and simple. Eventually they could make being a democrat a disqualifier for clearance. Voila, one-party rule.

originates with the executive.

The Constitution invests the executive authority with the president.

It would be like saying that there needs to be some office in Congress to read over and authorize legislation that the House and Senate are allowed to consider. It would place the employee above the bosses. You can take "bosses" to mean the representatives and senators, if you want; or you can take them to be the American electorate.
