(115,735 posts)He emigrated to the US, where he operated some brothels. At some point he returned to Germany, but they kicked him out when they discovered he'd left Germany in the first place to avoid conscription. Trump's father, Fred, was born in New York. Fred claimed the family was Swedish on account of widespread anti-German sentiment after WWII, and for some unknown reason Donald continued to claim Swedish ancestry in The Art of the Deal. But now it looks like he's German again.

(12,344 posts)For example, did Donald Trump publicly claim to beat Jack Nicklaus at golf?
As far I can tell, he didn't, but I can imagine him saying it, so I would guess true.

(54,408 posts)I was just WAITING for someone to ask him the name of that wonderful place in Germany where his father was born.
It was either a place with a simple name like Nirgendwo, or else one of those long German names like Ichbineinarschloch.
