Paul Ryan says Ocasio-Cortez didn't really listen 'to a thing I said' when he offered her advice

Former Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said Tuesday that he doesn't believe freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) listened much to the advice he gave her about being one of the youngest members of the House.

In an interview Tuesday night at the annual dinner for Forward Jainesville, a community organization based in his hometown, Ryan quipped that he thought Ocasio-Cortez had ignored his advice while revealing that he had met the New York congresswoman after her election victory last year.

"I talked to her, AOC - everybody calls her AOC ... She's the youngest person now there. I gave her just a few little tips on just being a good member of Congress, new. I don't think she really listened to a thing I said," Ryan said, to laughter from the audience.

"Take it easy, just watch things for a while, don't ruffle any - see how it works first," he added of the advice he gave to Ocasio-Cortez.

as an intellectual, apparently the closest thing the knuckdragging Republican caucus imagined it had.

He's always been an extremist dope. He couldn't be put down after the Kochs pushed him on Romney (no bright bulb himself), so had to be put away instead. Then a total failure, traitor, and coward as speaker on rising far above his level of competence and integrity. To our benefit, of course.

I wouldn't listen to him either. Seriously.

"Double standards are Paul Ryan being elected at 28 and immediately being given the benefit of his ill-considered policies considered genius; and me winning a primary at 28 to immediately be treated with suspicion & scrutinized, down to my clothing, of being a fraud," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted last year.

Doubt that she wasn't listening, her actions to date clearly indicate she pays very close attention to many things.

She just took the advice for what it was worth and acted on her own better judgement.

...and she doesn't have the benefit of a mainstream media that is so desperate to portray a "serious policy-wonk" Republican that they'd celebrate any one who'd spout econo-babble at them. And did.

Using it as an anecdote on the speaking tour circuit is something else entirely; it shows he really wasn't giving advice at all.

Not that I'd ever accuse Paul Ryan of being well-intentioned.

I fail to see the problem here. Meanwhile, I see that he took half a million dollars from the Koch Brothers--after passing their version of the tax bill. Hmmmmmmm....
