Jeopardy! Reportedly Searching For Alex Trebek's Replacement

https://screenrant.com/jeopardy-alex-trebek-replacement-search/
<snip>

Iconic and perdurable trivia game show Jeopardy! is seeking a replacement for host Alex Trebek. The unique platform, blue box panels, and Trebek have created a formula that's kept the show in syndication for over thirty-five years. Now, the game show is reportedly preparing for Trebek's impending exit from the equation.

Created by Merv Griffin, the game show consists of presenting contestants with clues in the forms of answers, to which players must phrase their responses in the form of a question. The trivia show quickly escalated into a household staple and has become a Hollywood A-lister itself, being featured in numerous films and TV shows including, The Golden Girls, Family Guy, and SNL. Usually a serene and enlightening program, Jeopardy! has created outrageous moments in TV history with a contestant winning with just $1 and a mid-game marriage proposal. Recently, the show made headlines when Trebek shocked the nation with his grave announcement of a cancer diagnosis. The diagnosis has supposedly led to a hunt for a new host.

He has expressed interest in doing it and I think it would be fantastic.

Only drawback is he is 62 so who knows how long he wants to do it? The producers might be looking for another generational talent like Trebek that they can just hand the job to for 30 or 40 years.

If they wanted someone younger I’d go with Anne Hathaway just because

Replacing an institution is hard, and it takes someone who already has some bona fides. When Charles Osgood retired from CBS Sunday Morning, Jane Pauley was a tremendously good decision. Really fit the mold.

Of course, I hope Alex Trebek hosts as long as he wants/can. I love him, and Jeopardy is an important part of my life. So many people take Jeopardy seriously, and I hope if the time comes to pick a replacement, they get it right. It needs to be someone who conveys authority yet is exceptionally pleasant. Hard balance to strike.

Nearly everyone in my family has tried out for Jeopardy. Most of us have made it pretty far in the process. When my oldest daughter actually got on the show, it was a high point in our family history.

He can be serious and could also add some humor. Might be good for ratings, too!

1) Drop the "answer in the form of a question" gimmick. It's old, tired, meaningless.
2) Add quickie statements at the end of the game from all three contestants. The end of the show has always felt too impersonal.
