Updated 2 hours ago
NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- Disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner was designated a Level 1 sex offender Friday by a judge in the Bronx, where he has been living in a halfway house since his release from federal prison in February.
The New York Democrat, a once-rising star who also ran for mayor, was convicted of having illicit online contact with a 15-year-old North Carolina girl in 2017. He did not appear in court Friday.
He began serving a 21-month prison sentence that November at the Federal Medical Center Devens, located about 40 miles west of Boston in Ayer, Massachusetts.
Weiner, 54, must register for a minimum of 20 years. He is required to verify his address every year, notify the state within 10 days of moving and visit a police station every three years to have a new picture taken.

(102,292 posts)might take notice, even if they are "certain" they know who they are sharing their photos with.
And, NO, I'm not saying his was an "innocent' mistake.

(38,317 posts)The disgrace of Weiner is he wasn't sexting people he knew to be his peers, instead he was an older married man with his own children sexting a fifteen year old.
If it didn't occur to him that this was the child of someone his own age, or worse, if it did occur to him, that's where it gets really creepy.
There's some naked pics of me, some when I was young and hot (but not a minor) in dusty, never visited archives of the early internet, but I don't worry about them nearly so much as all the stuff I've written much more recently, a great deal of it here on DU.

(102,292 posts)have no idea if that might be LEO posing as teens their own age. There have been several cases where hardened DA's have tried to charge sexting teens and even to require them to register as sex offenders. They did so several years ago with teen males caught urinating outside and charged with indecent exposure, so it isn't so much a leap to see this become the outcome, however unfortunate.

(38,317 posts)My own kids as teens, now very responsible young adults, far more than I ever was, suffered me and my wife a few after-midnight calls from the police to pick them up, but not for anything like that.
I remember picking up my youngest kid sitting on the curb, hands zip-tied behind back, and the cops were sitting there on the curb laughing like it was the Comedy Club. This kid is brilliantly funny when not dark. Okay, even the dark can be brilliantly funny... but maybe not for parents.
The worst thing was paying the tow company to retrieve the family car. Believe me, child paid for it. My own parents would inflict the same kinds of lesson on me. Clean up your own mess.
My parents suffered much, much worse by me. I'd be in some homeless state and they'd be wondering if I still lived. I'd disappear for months. I'd experiment with not eating until I was skeleton man. Even the most casual roommates in my life of endless misadventure would worry about me.
Yeah, his car's parked out there, all his stuff is still here, but we don't know where the hell he's gone.
I quit high school and didn't get my shit somewhat together until I was 25 years old, at least.
I'm absolutely certain, even with a past like mine, I could never be a top tier Republican. Even with naked pics and police reports, there's not enough dirt on me. I've never groped anyone who didn't want to be groped, I've never sent a dick pick to anyone, I've never walked into the dressing room of a teen beauty pageant, I've never wrestled with teenagers, and I've never fucked a cow or masturbated to a crucifix.

Says who?
Jeffrey Edward Epstein is an American financier, science and research philanthropist, and registered sex offender.
At release, he was registered in New York State as a level three (high risk of reoffense) sex offender, a lifelong designation.
