Trump to have dinner at his for-profit golf course near L.A. during West Coast trip

President Trump plans to have dinner at his for-profit golf course in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., Friday night, with his son Eric Trump, the city council and dozens of friends and supporters, according to one person who was told about the gathering. ... Trump is in the middle of a West Coast trip, which will also include stops at the U.S.-Mexico border and fundraisers in Beverly Hills. His official White House schedule has a blank spot from about 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It appears Trump will take that time to make a side trip to his golf club in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.

Trump’s dinner — which would be his first visit to the California course as president — comes at a pivotal moment for that club, which is one of the largest new development opportunities for the company since Trump took office and said he handed control of the company to his sons, Eric and Don Jr.
....

“Everything he does is for the good of the American people — he has zero involvement in the Trump Organization,” Eric Trump told Forbes Magazine last year. ... Invitees to Friday’s dinner include members of the Rancho Palos Verdes City Council, said the person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe a private event. Guests were told they could order off the menu, and they would pay their own bills. The dinner is not a political fundraiser; the person said it appeared Trump simply “wanted dinner companions.”
....

The club is otherwise closed to visitors today, according to its website. The city has closed hiking trails and parks nearby. The Federal Aviation Administration has also closed the airspace around the club from 6:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Pacific time — a window that coincides with the blank spot in Trump’s official White House schedule. ... “Temporary flight restrictions for VIP Movement,” the FAA notice said.

Trump Wanted to Fire Less Attractive Golf Course Employees

Donald Trump ordered waitresses at the Trump National Golf Club in California’s Rancho Palos Verdes to be fired if he did not deem them attractive enough, according to an investigation by the Los Angeles Times. When Trump was visiting the course, managers said they felt they needed to schedule only young, thin, pretty women to work those shifts. According to court records, Trump wanted any unattractive women who worked at his club to be fired. He wanted to employ only beautiful women, according to former club staffers. “I had witnessed Donald Trump tell managers many times while he was visiting the club that restaurant hostesses were ‘not pretty enough’ and that they should be fired and replaced with more attractive women,” said Hayley Strozier, who was director of catering at the club until 2008. The comment was made in a sworn declaration during the course of a lawsuit that focused on the rigorous working environment at the club. The Los Angeles Times story on the documents includes several examples of various inappropriate comments Trump made to the employees who he believed were attractive.

...when Trump is due to arrive. One of the less-gorgeous white waitresses in California complained about that practice a couple of years ago, because she was included in this "get out of sight" scenario. As far as I could tell, the manager was actually trying to protect his staff from Trump.
