Revisionism of who/what nationalism is succeeds where holocaust denial did not

Conservative pundit and speaker Candace Owens has responded to criticism of recently unearthed remarks she made late last year commenting on Hitler while defending the term nationalism.

A clip of her answer posted to Twitter has been viewed more than two million times. Many on social media have criticized a portion of her answer in which Owens comments, "if Hitler just wanted to make Germany great and have things run well, okay fine."

Her comments were meant to show that Hitler was not a nationalist, she said. Hitler did not put Germans first; he "was putting German Jews into concentration camps and murdering — he was a mass murderer," she said.

She dismissed critics who said her comments meant that Hitler could have been great if he had just focused on Germany: "No, I'm saying Hitler wasn't a nationalist."

And now here's a quote from Neo-Nazi leader Harold Arthur Covington back in 1996 that might be relevant to this discussion:

I recall seeing a television program on revisionism a few years ago which closed with Deborah Lipstadt making some statement to the effect that the real purpose of Holocaust revisionism is to make National Socialism an acceptable political alternative again. I normally don't agree with anything a Jew says, but I recall exclaiming, "Bingo! Got it in one! Give that lady a cigar!"

You see, the nationalist ultra right can't erase the Holocaust, so now they've moved onto Plan B, simply say there is no such thing as a bad ultra right nationalist (Like Hitler), and it seems to be getting traction where holocaust denial did not get it. If you ask what a self-proclaimed nationalist what a bad nationalist looks like, what too much nationalism is, you will either get a blank stare or you will get personally attacked.
