I just saw a segment on Craig Melvin about a Trump fan disappointed with her tax return which was half of what it used to be. She acknowledged that she felt Trump misled people about tax cuts helping the middle class. She said she believes "he doesn't want to show his taxes because he doesn't pay taxes while we are paying everything" . This is a woman with kidney disease who is on dialysis awaiting a kidney transplant but still said she was a Trump fan.
I am so confused. I am confused by these type of Trump fans. As a person of color, I can only conclude. You are a racist. You like his racist ideologies. If he is not making your life better economically what are you fan of? He lacks moral leadership, so I doubt that's it. He's a joke on the international stage.
I am especially confused by this person who has kidney disease, a pre-existing condition and Trump trying to tear down the ACA. I am befuddled about what she is a fan of?

(2,692 posts)are blacks, jews, latinos, asians, muslims, the entire population of non-heterosexual humans . . .so, yeah, this lady with the smallest refund ever is probably a racist and trusts Trump to lead America back to the whiteness the Founders intended.
She accepts the suffering Trump lays on her because of the, in her eyes, "greater good" that he is doing.
We cannot hope to convince people like her that the damage Trump and his "best people" are doing to America will ultimately destroy everything at the heart of the Founders actual vision. All we can do is out-vote her and her people, out-vote them in such numbers that even the fascist games her political leaders play with the vote will be insufficient to quiet our voice. Once we've done that, frauds and fascists like Trump and the GOP will be reduced to sideline whispering, whispering among themselves, with no effect on the body politic or on America's genuine ideals.
2020 is our last chance. I don't care who the Dems nominate, I will vote against the monsters on the Right. A "no" vote in 2020 is a vote for fascism, racism, and ignorance. MAGA indeed!

(24,370 posts)While a larger majority identified with Obama, the opinions and hatreds and prejudices of Trump and the others around him of a similar mindset (Miller, for instance) resonate with a significant number of the electorate.
They would rather stay with their hated than educate themselves and move forward.

(14,858 posts)that Trump is President because God placed him there, to implement God's plan. These Christians are told that opposition to Trump is opposition to God. Many of the RW radio shows, both Christian and secular, echo this idea, as do countless websites, Facebook posts, Tweets, etc. etc. That's one reason there are so many like the person described in the OP, who act like cult members. It also explains why they think we are not just wrong, but are actively evil.

(14,858 posts)They've been doing this since he was nominated, and maybe before that. It's very shortsighted and foolish to discount the role Christianity has played, and continues to play, in the rise of Trump. The majority of Christian voters cast their ballots for Trump in 2016. It was not just the white Evangelicals, either, it was the majority of Christians of all varieties. Most of those Christians will enthusiastically vote for him again, if given the chance, because a vote against Trump is a vote against God.

(51,608 posts)I watched it and after she was bitching about how she doesn't regard a pay increase throughout the year as the same "promised tax cut" she normally received in a huge refund of $4,000 but $2,000 now instead. Duh! Wake up lady! Learn about your finances. Stop being so ignorant and bitching about it. She probably didn't even know that the ACA was the same as Obamacare until she needed it.
Then when she said she voted for the fucking moron I said out loud to my dog, "I do not feel badly at all. You deserve it.....another fucking moron".

(261 posts)It is upsetting to get daily proof that so many people are supportive of this trash person. How can this be? But then I heard Bandy Lee, the Yale psychiatrist, saying that he might not be able to process the humiliation of losing his base and might try to take the world down with him. So Im starting to see the positive side of this phenomenon. Maybe I shouldnt wish for them to wake up. At least until he loses the election. The other positive is that they seem to be equally incapable of understanding us. When Trump Jr chastised Ilhan Omar for calling Stephen Miller a white supremacist, I thought, This is good theyre so stupid they wont be able to figure out strategies to defeat us.
But still, its a daily nightmare.

(4,407 posts)My wife knows a woman who developed liver cancer before the ACA. The doctors told her she needed a new liver, but it turned out that her terrible health plan wouldn't cover a transplant and she didn't have the deposit to get on the transplant list.
The ACA then passed and she was able to get an exchange plan and a liver transplant. The ACA literally saved her life.
Her husband, however, is a Fox News junkie and a right wing conservative. To this day, he still hates Obama, supports trump, and simply fails to acknowledge that the ACA saved his wife's life.
You can't make this shit up.

(22,528 posts)Didn't understand the effect of his tax plan on us who aren't as rich as he is. " So, he lowered taxes for the wealthy, but he didn't understand what he was doing. He doesn't have tax experts clever enough to anticipate other outcomes than what he says...or he doesn't understand he should listen to them. Diddums just doesn't understand, but now he probably does, so we're just peachy.

(1,639 posts)And that quote pretty much explains it. So many people desperately need someone to look down upon. Whats-his-face lifts his fans up by cramming his metaphoric foot onto other people's metaphoric necks.
Admittedly, I look down upon the Trumpers a little bit at times. At other times, however, I feel sorry for them, and I wish that their hearts and minds could be clear with the love and wisdom that they claim their deity provides. They would not only find some inner peace to quiet the rage and fear that besets them, but we could all work together to make a better life for everyone.

(12,344 posts)I don't like Sanders, but would vote for Sanders in a general election even if never releases tax returns, would raise my taxes and screw up my current health care plan. I would even re-elect him if he crashed the economy and started a major war. That's because his values are still closer to mine than any Republican and I'd perceive that any screwups would have been worse under a Republican or are not his fault.

(3,635 posts)ie didn't get the wall built fast enough and isn't delivering for the 'regular' people in the 'middle class'. those were her stated concerns. IOW she disapproves of Trump from the populist right, like Anne Coulter does, which makes it less (not more) likely for Dems to attact such voters, who will likely still vote for Trump.
