FDNY firefighter who survived 9/11 says Republican criticizing Ilhan Omar told him he was 'too busy'

A retired FDNY firefighter who survived 9/11 said Thursday he was recently snubbed by Dan Crenshaw, the Texas congressman who’s drawing heat for accusing a Democratic lawmaker of downplaying the terror attack.

Rob Serra, who’s wheelchair-bound and lost several colleagues on Sept. 11, 2001, told the Daily News he tried to introduce himself to Crenshaw while lobbying members of Congress about renewing the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund during a visit to Capitol Hill on March 27.

But the Republican lawmaker claimed he was “too busy” and said his office would reach out, according to Serra.

Two weeks later, Serra hasn’t heard from Crenshaw, who has yet to throw his support behind renewing the VCF.

Crenshaw was really defensive over this over a clip I saw on NBC News saying the reason he went over there was to prevent another 9/11 from happening.

Jon Stewart had to shame Republicans to get the Victim Compensation Fund done.

Meanwhile:

These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-arazzies. I have never seen people enjoying their husbands’ death so much.
Ann Coulter

You know, it took me about a year to start hating the 9/11 victims’ families. It took me about a year. Um, and I had such compassion for them and I really, you know, I wanted to help them, and I was behind — let’s give them money, let’s get them started, and all of this stuff. And I really didn’t — all the 3,000 victims’ families, I don’t hate all of them, I hate about, probably about ten of them. But when I see 9/11 victim family, you know, on television, or whatever, I’m just like, ‘Oh, shut up.’ I’m so sick of them. Because they’re always complaining. And we did our best for them. And again, it’s only about ten.
Glenn Beck

Chris Hayes talked about how Republicans took a piece of Omar's speech out of context, about how they made it look like Omar was downplaying the attack on 9/11 by saying that "someone" attacked us. Her point was that she was concerned about American Muslims losing their civil liberties and freedoms after 9/11. She had no problem with calling the 9/11 attackers terrorists. Hayes pointed out that the right has a vicious campaign going on to oust Omar, AOC, and one other Congresswoman whose name escapes me.

I hope the people who posted the Republican thread here, about Omar being a terrorist, are proud of pushing a right wing smear campaign. Omar is pushing to renew the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund while Republicans who are accusing Omar of being anti-American are not.

A guest on Hayes show thought it despicable that Democratic leadership is not coming to the defense of Omar, AOC, and the 3rd Congresswoman whose name escapes me. To the contrary, top Democrats bashed Omar at AIPAC. Don't get me wrong, Omar did say some anti-Semitic things about money which she apologized for saying, but Republicans have a full blown war going on to take out several of our young Congresswomen.

However when discussing AIPAC I don't think she was being anti Semitic at all. She is a Justice Democrat who doesn't take corporate PAC money so she would and does call out all forms of big money lobbying.
