it's sure tempting. Maybe a more subtle way is to invite them over for coffee and serving it in the mug, which you will also have so it kind of looks like a set. You can even claim that these are the only clean mugs you have and the other mugs are in the dishwasher and need to be washed if they comment on why you are doing this.
