asking for a donation. I told them my donations go to local candidates. I will not be donating to national committees because i am not happy with their actions. (Punishing folks that run against incumbents).

(7,867 posts)But they are the official campaign arm of Democrats in the House of Representatives -- it is their job to support House Democrats.
If you disagree with that or want to support candidates in other ways, so be it.

(11,949 posts)I do not support primary candidates who are more likely to be defeated in the general election. Cause that gets us exactly nothing.
Living in a red district in a red state makes you understand the best democratic candidate is one that can win.
Having a minority in congress who support all your issues is worth less than a cup of coffee.
I give to the DCCC.

(2,949 posts)We all should know who the best candidate in our district is, the candidate most likely to win. my concern is when the national party makes the decision ignoring the local folk. Let the people speak.

(11,949 posts)It is highly unlikely a Democratic candidate will ever win in my district. And if one was to win, he or she would be way to moderate for most of the activist in our party or on DU. And would not support many of the issues I actually support. But I would happily vote for them. And would even vote for them in a primary against a candidate I agree more with if I thought they could win the general.
The DCCC takes these things into consideration. Their goal is to elect democrats.
2018 is the perfect example. Despite what you might read in the mainstream media and on DU our win in 2018 was a victory for moderate Democrats.
The freshman you read it about on the news and so many on DU love won safe Democratic districts. They netted zero new seats. The DCCC understands this.

(34,136 posts)I got a call yesterday from the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee and donated $100. With a 2-1 match, that effectively made it $300!
Since neither of my Florida senators are up for re-election in 2020, I figured this time around I would donate to get more Democratic Senators in place to either put a check on a Republican president or help a Democratic president. In 2022 I will donate to whoever is running against Marco Rubio and in 2024 whoever is running against Rick Scott.
