Will humanity survive the slow pace of evolution and the GOP?

Every living creature on this planet kills for food and/or survival.

And, yes, we humans kill to eat. However, we also kill for reasons that have nothing to do with food or survival.

The reality of human beings is that we will kill for any reason at all: Sport, revenge, thrills, fun, ideology, hatred, bigotry, jealousy, confusion, ignorance, greed, envy, religious zealotry, tribal loyalty, eradicating the “inferior,” a whim of the moment, insanity. You name it. We kill just because.

We will kill for a penny if that’s what we perceive we need at the moment.

In short, humans are the most unpredictable, dangerous, deadly species on Earth. And unfortunately, there are those who know how to exploit the human inclination to kill.

Without going through the history of the world and without going through the condition of other countries, focus on us, today.

We have a president who is doing everything in his power to kill “The Other.” And, “The Other” is not just some imaginary “caravan at the border” that he’s dreamed up. “The Other,” to him, are black people, brown people, Asian people, people who are not Christian, and, so, so many more. Especially, anyone elected to the United States congress who is a Muslim female. Make no mistake about it. The president of the United States is using language that is meant to dredge up all the bile which exists in the haters, and drive them to take deadly actions against the “Others.” And against specific human beings.

And anyone who doesn't understand that his language is deadly needs a lesson in the history of the world.

This horrible orange creature who is inhabiting the White House, is an ignorant, venomous beast who is well along the path to destroying American democracy. -- Not to mention his threat to the rest of the world.

So how did I get from evolution to Donald Trump? IMO, he’s a throwback who belongs somewhere in a prehistoric era. His goal is obvious to anyone who is paying attention. It is to eradicate everyone who isn't like him. And the fact that the entire GOP, and so many voters are going along with him, is proof that humanity hasn’t advanced as far as we thought we had. Even though we have reached out and made it to the moon.

Evolution is strange. It advances some and leaves others behind, perhaps for a later time. But, the reality of the moment is that those who need to catch up with human decency, have somehow ended up in charge. They have yet to grasp the concepts of the value, sacredness and dignity of human life.

We outnumber them, yet they possess a slyness that has nothing to with today’s human morality. To put it simply, they are barbarians who aren’t playing by any rules. And they are now in control of most of the levers of power.

Okay, I’ve ranted on long enough. So let me translate this all into English. Republicans and their voters represent ignorance and a dark history. Democrats, for all our faults, represent hope and the future.
