Seeing Notre Dame today has reminded me of what happened at the National Museum of Iraq.

Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld didn't protect the archaeological treasures that were located in the cradle of civilization.

Some of the treasures were eventually recovered, but many were lost forever.

The GOP didn't care. I guess they don't have much use for the parts of history that don't help them tell the story that they feel like telling today, whatever that particular story is.

I continue to cry.

The world's treasures (including the environment) has not done well on our watch.
