(134 posts)my only criticism would be that the average american won't know the etch a sketch comment and I would have had that in quotes with the name of the advisor who said it next to it. Otherwise fantastic!

(134 posts)I hope Obama's campaign is ready for the rain of fire that is going to pummel them after the conventions..the GOP is going to do a scorched earth strategy of advertising.

(49,027 posts)It's superb. The pacing is great, the premise or framework (movie trailer) is wonderful. It doesn't have a bunch of hokey rapid cut black & white shots like a machine gun with a sledge hammer soundtrack and an angry announcer. The voiceover is deep, but sounds a little friendly and ever so slightly tongue in cheek, in keeping with the premise. Makes memorable points.
Well Done, Team Obama!

(57,936 posts)The other day I visited a naturalization ceremony in Los Angeles. Guess who was featured on the central poster at the Republican voter registration table, held up high for all to see.
Abraham Lincoln? No.
George W. Bush? No.
Ronald Reagan? No.
MARTIN LUTHER KING. Yes.
They were boasting that Martin Luther King was a registered Republican.
That really beats the cake. What nerve.
Frankly, it made me mad.
Martin Luther King was a Republican -- back in the days when the haters in the South were Southern Democrats. Nixon's Southern Strategy changed all that.
I wish that the racist Southern Republicans of our time could have seen that Republican bunch at the naturalization ceremony.
So, this ad predicts precisely what will happen. It's about money and power. The "conservative" ideology is just a sop to draw in the gullible.

Mitt Romney takes a refreshingly honest perspective as he reflects on who he is, what he believes and why he is running for office.

It's really well done, though.

(3,032 posts)As a liberal it's funny. I get it's a mock movie preview. But adverts are getting more and more made for shock content right down to dramatic music and effects with virtually no focus on issues. Does anyone have an overview of what percentage is negative ads? Must be more than 50% now?
tavalon

(37 posts)The ad was silly. It tries to say too much too quickly. The Etch-A-Sketch reference fails to tie it to Romney's adviser and, without context, most of the other sound bites were lost in the background noise. Right-wingnuts already think the NY Times is a liberal tool so the ad plays right into their suspicions by repeatedly citing to it. Yet another garbled message from my fellow Democrats. Keep this up and one of the greatest presidents in history will be replaced by Mitt Romney.
nanabugg
(2,198 posts)And they are not trying to appeal to the braindead dittoheads who are going to vote for Mitt just because Rush told them to. This ad is for "thinking" people who need a nudge in the left direction.
