My republican brother was home for Easter.

Oh, it gets much worse! The other night I made a joke about Trump, nothing insulting or crude. My brother did not like it and told me that was enough, no more jokes. Well yesterday, my brother-in law said something about Trump and yep, you got it! My brother chimed in and made a joke about the Mueller report. I said to him, I thought you said that we couldn't joke about Trump, so why is it okay for you to make a joke? This was his answer. Trump was a great man and that it was not right to insult Trump. I asked him if it was okay for Trump to insult a hero, the handicap, women or a immigrant? He was mum on that and I walked away laughing at him! I guess I won't be talking to him for awhile!

my brother made a joke about "stupid liberals". My brother, two sisters and my nephew were there also.

I asked him if he still had his yahoo profile up. He said no. I asked him Jennifer (his wife) made him take it down. He said yes.

One of my sisters then asked what we were talking about.

My brother made a hand jester and said ... no, no!

I turned to my sister and said "it said married but looking"

My brother didn't talk to me for a few years.

fuck 'em.

This isn't a disagreement about economic policy. It's supporting the same propaganda my dad fought against in WWII.

No excuse at all for their crap.

You're better than me to deal with them.

Same here. My buddy since I was 16 and I don't talk any more. My choice. It never failed that at some point in recent conversations it always got around to politics. He would sneak in some lame FauxNoise talking point. To him it was gospel. At one point I told him to please cut it. Three strikes and your out. After that we only talk once a year if that. Family and friends chat but nothing of substance. Sad... We have lots of memories... I miss my old non political friend. I have other conservative friends and we just don't talk politics. We don't talk religion and we are not sports guys.. Works well for them and me..

reich wing sisters since Dec. 2016. I'm awaiting their apologies for supporting the shit bag and doing their part in damn near destroy our democracy. Until then, they know where I stand. Actually, it's been quite refreshing not having to hear their wing nut, bible thumping bullshit every holiday.

**that*** I don't get with the maga crowd

I *do* get them liking trump "sticking it to the liberals" bla bla bla
or if he's a means to an end (*of the world) evangelical etc abortion yada yada
I even get rich people like him taxes and steal from the poor etc

But I *do not get* why they think he is a "great man".
That is some messed up logic /mental block - it's like they want to be (excuse the language) cucks right there.

There's a lot of them. I knew an extreme case in college. Even back then, I knew that if a Hitler ever showed up in America, he'd be the leader of the brownshirts. We're friends on Facebook, and sure he enough, he puts up at least 10 pro-Trump memes a day.

On edit: See John Dean's prophetic book, Conservatives without a Conscience.

And I get in situations people are statistically similar...

I guess it's a perversion of a survival instinct to form a "tribe" etc.
Jonathan Haidt made a good case for it in "The Righteous Mind: Why Good People Are Divided by Politics and Religion"

I just have a hard time personally seeing it.

I have a high school friend like that. And yep, his dad was the iron ruler etc. I guess it's a combination of never growing up past the "daddy" phase and at the same time wanting really strong "bonds" with the "tribe". The guy I know is like that - super supportive if you are "with" him etc but woe if you get on the outside. While at the same time he has the annoying thing they all do to say outrageous hideous things and if he's challenged it's just either joking or the other person can't take the joke etc. Annoying as hell.

It’s such an f’ing cult.

Brainwashed WEAK minds! AKA Followers...AKA TRUMPERS!

We Democrats are FREE THINKERS and decide on our own accord, NOT by a WHIP Master that instructs you what to do.

In my opinion, all TRUMPERS are SLAVES to their PARTY Masters. They are CONDITIONED to watch Fox News and to RESPOND NEGATIVELY to ANTI-TRUMP populists.
Do their MASTERs care about them? NO!
They only care about the SLAVE to just send money to finance their RULE and a vote for them at the polls. Masters ONLY keep their realm from collapsing by ensuring their SLAVES are kept UNEDUCATED and are only TAUGHT by them.

I suggest to tell your family members and friends who cross that line on politics with you, by informing that YOU do NOT talk to SLAVES. IF they want to be FREE, they have to stop BEING A FOLLOWER and decide for themselves!
