Dear Sri Lankan Christians

While our thoughts and prayers are with you, we regret to inform you that if you travel to the United States to request asylum, as is allegedly your lawful right, we will take your children away and lock you in a cage.

A homeland security officer will examine your teenage daughter's bedding to time her period. Your children will sleep on a mattress without pillows under a 24-7 flourescent light. You will live in separate panopticons, where everything is visible to us and nothing is visible to you. The agents speaking with you will be legally authorized to lie to you, and say your family has returned to Sri Lanka and wants you to join them. The United States cannot promise that you will ever be reunited with your family after your separation.

You will be given several opportunities to forego your lawful claim to asylum if you will self deport. You will be promised reunion with your family, though that may not happen.

While we are sad for your experience, we will bend hell and heaven to keep you from being safe here.
