General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHave you ever actually hated a sitting US President before?
Nixon was my C-in-C, and while I thought the sonofabitch was exactly that, I didn't actually hate him.
Reagan was, at least in my opinion, an amiable dunce, who was almost completely senescent by the end of his second term. (He'll rot in Hell for ignoring the AIDS crisis, but I was unaware of it at the time.)
George HW Bush was a patrician douche, who committed crimes in service to who knows what. Probably some misguided energetic Commie-hunting bullshit instinct left over from the 60's.
W was a dope who was engaged in a dick-measuring contest with his daddy, and God knows how many innocent civilians and US service men and women paid the price.
But I never actually hated ANY sitting President.
Until now.
I want horrible things to happen to the orange shitgibbon who has usurped the people's house, and is now actively engaged in destroying everything that this country used to stand for.
If his diet should catch up with him, and he tumbles in a heap down the steps of Air Force One ... well ... shit happens. And just in case, have another double cheeseburger, Lard-Ass.
But failing that, I want him shamed, driven from office in disgrace, and never able to show his face in public again without being vociferously scorned.
For the first time in my life, I hate ... not dislike ... not have policy disagreements with ... but fucking DESPISE the President of the United States.

(66,446 posts)I haven't forgotten what a dolt he was, how ham-fisted and tongue-tied; how provincial and blockheaded. How eager he was to allow truly evil people like Dick Cheney to have free rein over this country. How he willingly allowed 9/11/2001 to be used as a political excuse for visiting all sorts of horrors upon innocent people.
I'll never forgive him for that.
I hated his guts. I still do. I don't care how chummy he and Michelle Obama get; it just proves what a class act she is.
My loathing for Trump does not diminish my hatred for the previous to the manner-born, silver spoon asshole Republican...

(27,827 posts)In some ways, my reaction to Reagan was similar to my reaction to Trump. Reagan creeped me out. His smarmy voice actually made the hair on my arms stand up. I had to leave the room if his voice was on, and his heavily made-up face didn't help when it came to looking at him.
With Bush*, I more hated him for what he did, though he has the kind of personality I try to avoid IRL, too folksy and insincere.
True, Trump kind of takes it to a new level, but the answer is yes, I've hated other presidents. OTOH, I didn't feel that their voters necessarily hated me the way I felt in November 2016 that Trump voters did. I was shocked. My first reaction was, how could anyone hate me (and people who believe what I do) so much that they'd rather vote for this guy than have this country succeed?

(12,875 posts)In the wake of 9-11 GW had 90% support, and I was among them. Then he and Cheney and the PNAC neocons launched their fraudulent war of choice in Iraq.
Bush manipulated the fear, grief, anger, and patriotism of the American people with a deliberate campaign of lies to lead our nation into a war that cost more than twice as many American lives as 9-11, $trillions of dollars, and up to a million lives in a region that has been engulfed in war ever since.
It was the most egregious betrayal of public trust by a US president in our nation's history.
The so-called "war on terror" recruited the next generation of hardened terrorists, perpetuating and worsening this threat.
It absolutely sickens me every time I see this war criminal treated with honor and privilege instead of brought before The Hague and imprisoned, which is what he deserves.
Trump is a much more loathsome creature who is dividing the American people and doing real damage, but he has yet to match GW Bush for sheer volume of death and destruction.

(10,233 posts)If this evil piece of human excrement comes out unscathed in the end, it will clearly demonstrate there is absolutely no justice in this world. If Trump skates, untouched, unimpeached and re-elected, all the religious and moral claptrap about reaping what one sows, paying for one's sins and just retribution will ring completely hollow.
I'm resigned to the possibility we'll see a few high schools named after Trump, mostly in backwaters like Bug Tussle, Texas, where he's still adored. Perhaps a state highway, or two, in Oklahoma or Alabama. It's bad enough that Bibi wants to name an Israeli settlement after the guy.
Still, I don't want any Trump Presidential Library in NYC, government buildings bearing his name in DC, or a tacky State funeral at the National Cathedral, where his plastic whore of a wife and Sweet Lindsey Graham will deliver tearful eulogies. Let's not have any media rehabilitation efforts to humanize the man, endless panel discussions about Trump's presidential legacy, or talking heads declaring a Trump Dynasty whenever his vapid daughter makes noises about running for office.
I pray Trump gets what's coming to him, and soon. That was the first time a lot of Democrats, myself included, shifted from political disagreement to outright hatred.

But that is much to kind
Because if you could perform that feat
You'd take pleasure in your behind
I'd like to say eat shit and die
But you deserve much more
You should suffer all the grief and pain
Of your misbegotten war
Though I can never make you think
Or feel, or understand
I'll take solace when you hear your name
Cursed throughout the land
From inside a lonely prison cell
Dark and bare and cold
Where every day you pay for your crimes
Until you're sick, heartbroken, and old
When you finally leave the earth
You fucked over oh so well
If there is a God and afterlife
You're going straight to hell
