Richard Nixon had carried 49 states less than two years before he was impeached.
Someone needs to explain to Trump that the residual stock market run will not insulate him from the Constututional remedy.

(1,898 posts)While I agree with you, for context, did you see the important reminder by Lawrence O'Donnell on a key vote in House Judiciary in 1974?

(146,325 posts)He could still think straight, at least. Trump can't remember the last time he thought for more than 5 seconds.

Perhaps he uses a whole different dictionary than MOST of the rest of us.

(15,651 posts)The judicial committee approved 3 articles of impeachment, which would have gone to the full house for a vote if Nixon had not resigned first.

(22,671 posts)Fact: They lost the popular vote.
Fact: Their policies are unpopular.
Fact: tRump's polling numbers have never put him in a majority.
They ARE the minority. Always have been. The majority are being told how and what to do by the minority.

(30,250 posts)He's been underwater ever since he announced his candidacy. He entered the WH with the lowest ratings in Gallup's history, and they've been around since 1935. He's only hit 50% on Rasmussen and they trend conservative.
Like every one of his utterances and tweets, Trump lied.

(49,034 posts)He slipped below 50% about May 1973, over a year before he was impeached. He was at 24% approval when impeachment was referred by Committee to the House July 1974. For a few months before the "remove from office" figure had been flirting with 50%.
Trump never was as popular as Nixon was.
