USGS has it as a huge red block that looks like a 5.4 or so, but there are about 2/3 different quakes showing underneath it from about 3.2 to 4.7, all within a 5 minute span.

I'm thinking it's stress relief on the southern spur of the San Andreas.

I live in a wood-frame house and even a stiff breeze makes this place sing. So far, nothing though.

Hopefully the old cliche rings true about a lot of little ones being better than one big one. A 5.3 is no laughing matter though when it happens directly under your feet. I've been in So. Cal. for all the big ones going back to Sylmar in '71. Of those, the Whittier Narrows earthquake happened within a couple of miles of where I lived and lasted less than 10 seconds but WOWOWOW a 5.9 under your feet feels like the end of the world!

Stay safe and have an earthquake party this afternoon!

Imperial County was hit by more than a dozen small earthquakes Sunday, including a 5.4 quake near the Mexican border.

>>The first quake -- a magnitude 3.9 temblor -- occurred at 10:02 a.m. northwest of Brawley and was followed by a series of other quakes in the same general area, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. There were no immediate reports of serious damage or injuries, authorities said.

The quakes could be felt in the press box at the Del Mar Race Track in neighboring San Diego County, where the $1-million Pacific Classic is scheduled later Sunday.

Between 10 a.m. and 12:50 p.m., the same general area was shaken by quakes ranging in magnitude from 2.0 to 5.4, the USGS reported.

I'll send Cookie along, Not kidding he's been all loving and cute and mommy, mommy... I told my husband this morning, I wonder if we are up for a quake. Given this started at ten in the morning, the cluster that is... damn birds, they feel them far better than we do.

With the first one HE RAN.

Right now I know it is not over. They are both sitting pretty on their cages looking tense.

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- A series of earthquakes has rattled rural areas of Imperial and San Diego counties.

Paul Caruso with the U.S. Geological Survey says the first quake struck at 10:02 a.m. Sunday about three miles north-northwest of Brawley.

It was followed by a 3.4 quake about 90 seconds later in the same area near the southern end of the Salton Sea. Magnitude 2.2 and 2.0 quakes followed within six minutes of the first shock.

In the hour or so after the first earthquakes, at least ten more quakes struck the same approximate epicenter about 16 miles north of El Centro.

A sheriff's dispatcher says there have been no reports of damage or injuries.

Caruso says scientists aren't yet sure what fault the quake cluster was on but they are near the 800-mile San Andreas Fault.

In Ohio of all places. Very minor felt almost exactly like when distant thunder hits that certain resonant frequency and you can feel the waves pass through you and the teacups rattle. I was at a lake and the water on it jiggled.

We might have felt a foreshock, if I am reading this correctly, this one is the most intense in the series.

For clarification, the foreshock is the first one we all felt. (Or was it three)
