I would not consider it an 'honor' to visit Trumpy in the Oval Office. NOPE#

WASHINGTON, DC - APRIL 29: U.S. President Donald Trump hosts the Baylor womens NCAA championship basketball team in the Oval Office at the White House April 29, 2019 in Washington, DC. Although the NCAA champion University of Virginia men's basketball team is skipping a visit to the White House, the Baylor players visited the Oval Office three weeks after winning its third national title with an 82-81 victory over Notre Dame. (Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)
On Monday afternoon in Washington, D.C., history took place. For the first time in his 27 months in office, President Donald Trump held a private ceremony for a championship-winning womens sports team at the White House.
.........................................................
First, in the continuation of a tradition that he started during the government shutdown with the Clemson football team, he served Baylor a smorgasbord of Chick-fil-A sandwiches, french fries, Big Macs, and pizza. The lunch was good? You cant do better than that, he remarked to the players when they were crowded into the Oval Office for the photo op.
Then, when head coach Kim Mulkey presented him with the customary Baylor jersey with Trump on the back, Trump uttered the phrase: I love the short sleeves, such beautiful arms. Great definition.
Finally, when he was presented with a Baylor national championship hat, Trump joked about his hair being real: Can I put it on? It will mess up my hair, but thats okay. It is mine.
But the most questionable moment..............

At the same time, she could have turned down the offer to the WH. The team photo with the icky orange thing is pretty telling.

Baylor, a very Christian university, probably accepted for them. I'd like to hear from Kim or one of the team though...

(146,331 posts)It was a disgusting experience. I can tolerate a Big Mac if I can eat it hot, right out of the bag. Cooled down, it's really not an edible thing.
Disgusting. It is a deliberate insult on the part of Donald J. Trump. "Here," he is saying to the young women and coaches from Baylor, "this is what really I think of you."

(6,377 posts)So I don't think it was intended to be a barb toward the Baylor women, specifically.
That being said, it's still classless.

(33,643 posts)I absolutely must eat it at the place, or immediately after getting it at the drive-thru. I live like 3 minutes from a bunch of Fast Food, and every time I wait to get home with it ... it's barely edible.
There's one exception to this, and that's things that take a while to cook in the fryer, thick items that have to fry for 3-5 minutes ... Jacks Chicken Strips & Egg Rolls, for example, those will be optimal temp when I get home in 3 mins. I have my Monster Taco in the car though. Taco Bell tacos, same way, they're good for like 1.5 minutes.
And FF Burgers? Like you say ... they must be eaten immediately, or they get gross, fast.
Then again, I don't like ANY food that's supposed to be eaten hot ... not hot. Some people like, for example, cold pizza, or cold fried chicken ... YUCK!

(100,104 posts)And I stopped at In N Out beforehand. But in the interest of saving time I got it to go. And by the time I got to the parking lot and parked my car and started to eat my burger, a total of about 15 minutes, it was, shall we say not so fresh. Oh wait, it was fucking inedible. Never again. I'll always eat it at the restaurant.

(17,111 posts)She said when asked that she would be glad to go to the WH. It was said in the excitement of the win but that is no excuse.
She did not even consult her team. I also have no idea what they were told by the admin and the athletic department if they did not go.
Baylors athletic department has been a hot mess for a lot of reasons. This did not help their WBB program. I am waiting to see if she gets any blowback.

(17,111 posts)She automatically said yes without a thought of her players.
I have followed her since she wore pigtails and was a terror at LaTech. The way she handled Britney Griner was not stellar either when it became known she was gay. I have been very disappointed in her.
Either she believes what Baylor sells or she remains there in spite of their stances. She could get a good job at some major schools.

(33,643 posts)regarding a portion of their physique not associated with sex ... does not constitute 'sexual harassment'.
It's lame and tacky AF, to be sure, but it's not sexual harassment. Calling it that denigrates real sexual harassment, IMHO. Had he said 'look at all these beautiful boobs!' ... that would be sexual harassment.
To me it's kinda like calling Joe Biden a sexual harasser for briefly rubbing a woman's shoulders in encouragement.
That being said, it IS an obvious reflection on how ingrained it is in his psyche to view/value women in terms of their physical attributes, and how they please him. And how unable he is to NOT blurt out stupid, lame comments of this nature, no matter how inappropriate the timing. Which is scary in and of itself. But we knew all that about him already, didn't we?

(63,221 posts)He is setting a precedent and making a mockery of inviting sports teams to the White House. Who does this? He's so tacky and low-brow.
Those basketball players look anything but thrilled to be there. I'm sure the coach dragged them there kicking and screaming.

(17,111 posts)or talked about playing time. The Root was fishing..
I can guarantee you that Lindsey Graham was promising Trump the team would be there before the last whistle.
Clemson is a state school and our regressive legislature would love to whack them if they dissed Trump. It is a balancing act.
