This is looking like #19 - he has already run away with this - $35,000+ and here comes his 3rd double.
Over folks - now $45,000+ and we're half way through Double Jeopardy

(6,386 posts)With Ken Jennings, IIRC, he had some close calls and you could at least see how he could be beat by someone coming along who was smarter.
James' combination of knowledge (probably similar to Jennings) PLUS his money management technique from gambling makes me wonder.
It's like Jeopardy is the casino and James is counting cards in a single deck (pushing his dollars when it's in his favor and falling back when it's not). At this rate, he'll break the house.
I don't see how this streak ends.

(269,172 posts)I don't expect him to go 74 games but he could earn more than Jennings in less than half the time - this is his 19th win and he now has the top nine none day totals of money earned.
He is something else.

(6,386 posts)But at some point, what do they do??? It's gonna get old if they have to change the name of the show from "Jeopardy" to "Watch James wipeout another two contestants"...just doesn't have the same appeal.

(6,386 posts)But there was always a sense that "this could be the one" where he loses. I was looking for the references but my recollection is that he went into Final Jeopardy more than a few times NOT in the lead.
There was some suspense.
This...it's like watching the Patriots gang up on local teams. lol
I'll keep at it because it's one of the two show I play against my 95 year old mom...but without that, I'm not sure how long I'd stick with these 80-90k blowouts.
In some ways, I'm watching now to see what shade Alex is going to toss on him throughout the game.

(269,172 posts)He was lucky that he had a $6,000+ cushion.

(6,386 posts)I was off last night prepping for that every 10 year procedure that folks over 50 hate. lol. So you could say I was "occupied" when it was on.
At this rate, 72 shows is going to almost 5 mil. Whew. That's a payday.
Hope you're fine
He sure is breaking the bank

(27,832 posts)The worst of it is that the questions have not even really been that hard. He's winning on aggressive betting and buzzer skills for the most part.
If this was how the show started out, it would never have lasted 35 years with one host!
malaise
(269,172 posts)but his betting isn't always aggressive. He's really good at this.

(27,832 posts)15 neutral (including where the answer included both a male and female), 13 male, and 2 female!!
Two!! Out of thirty. I am not bothering with Double Jeopardy.
Truth is most of life is biased against us females
LisaM
(27,832 posts)This time was even worse than that, and that only had 3 female (in my charting) answers for the whole round. It's a pretty non-scientific method, but I'm trying to be fair.
I still say that James is being helped enormously by the relative easy answers they've had for the past few weeks. We know that he studied, but I still think there are categories that could trip him up. I assume that Jeopardy has a randomness generator that chooses the categories on a nightly basis (except when they do that twee stuff where a phrase runs across different category headings). I think he'll eventually be brought down by not knowing the answers in maybe 2 categories.
