If I have to thank Donald Trump for one single thing...

It would be the fact that his very identity as a Republican has engineered the destruction of all moral authority that right wing conservative Republicans claim to possess.

They have absolutely none.

Not just that, but also the fact that the GOP has become so utterly morally bankrupt that it has fully morphed into to party of white nationalism, rape, misogyny, tax theft, gun violence, pedophilia, xenophobia, support of foreign adversaries, the decline of American global leadership, opposition to the rule of law and the bane of basic human decency.

It’s not a bug that so many Republicans who have ran for office, and those who have had the misfortune of getting elected to office turn out to be morally reprehensible scumbags... It’s now a feature.

The Republicans are now functionaries of Trump’s criminal enterprise. Anyone who votes for Trump and those politicians who support him are the same.

They have all tossed any credibility that they’ve once claimed on the trash heap of history.

All there remains now is to excise the criminality of Trump and his sycophants from whatever we have left of a legitimate government by both root and stem.

If we can’t or won’t, our failure to do so will have serious repercussions for the fate of nation for generations to come.

courts rule in our favor in the myriad of cases to come as tRumpy and Barr attempt to block Congress from doing Oversight. IF Barr doesn't manipulate the 12 ongoing cases developed by the Mueller investigation. IF the MSM stops their held back treatment of tRumpy and his minions and goes full out SAVE OUR DEMOCRACY. Etc., etc., etc.

I worry daily about the future of my Granddaughter and continue to work daily at nearly 70 years old to build her a financial future where she will have choices available to her most wont IF we cant stop this disaster from continuing.

the destruction can seem to be overwhelming everything gone or at very least muddied and broken. After the torrent has subsided, we assess the problem, roll up our figurative sleeves and get to work to repair the dam. Most times the fix is better than the original. We did not give up walk away heads down muttering to our collective selves it’s just not how it’s done.

We will overcome this administration, it’s what we do.

I agree with your statement and we will overcome this dark time, but.... we shouldn't gloss over what it will likely take to reach that point. I fear the cost will be very high. By all means, GOTV but don't be surprised if that isn't enough.

is beating the Democrats to the punch. Studies have shown that if you get your message out before your opponent it is more likely to be believed by the masses and it is more likely that people will not change their mind when confronted with alternative facts. Even when Republicans are out right lying, which seems to be all the time now, people with no opinion on the subject are going to be more likely to believe them and swayed to their side of the argument. Right now the polls are telling us that more people believe that Trump is completely exonerated of any obstruction because of the simple paper Barr put out instead of Mueller's point by point summary. It is just how humans think, or not think. People like simple answers to complex problems because they want to get on with things more important in their lives.

Democrats have been playing catch up for decades allowing Republicans set the dialog first. Dems cannot let that happen in the future.

I seems they want a completely different form of government. They seem bent on destroying the existing government from the inside out. Trump's base recognize this and support it. So does Barr, Kavenaugh, McConnell, and a host of others. The Evangelicals have replaced God with an idol--trump. Do we remember the 10 commandments. But the evangelicals say that trump is God. Truth is they are all AFRAID. They're afraid of losing something they hold precious and dear--we all know what it is. And when a certain part of our population becomes scared--they do crazy things. All Germany needed was a person who was crazy enough to stick his neck out. No, they really don't care. And when democrats take the white house some day, the republicans will conveniently forget all of the things they've said and done during this crazy, crazy time. They will conveniently be struck by moral amnesia while yelling "how dare you...", "what a disgrace...", "how un american...", and on, and on as if none of the things they've said and done ever happened. Oh yeah, this is the character of a classic hypocrite!

turning this country into a dictatorial oligarchy.

They are more than happy propping up a mentally ill, tin pot fascist in exchange for tax cuts, suppression of women and minorities, and unregulated, malevolent corporatism.

We are getting a real time lesson in how Hitler and Mussolini rose to power.

But I like to think that we're bigger and stronger than that last gasp of white authoritarianism, sexism, money laundering and homophobia that is the Puke party. All those Pukes are fat white blobs in fucking white suits. The Turtle. Closeted Lindsay Gray-ham (who's got the vapors). And all the rest of those worthless fucks.
