May 3, 2019 at 5:50 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard
On some level, I think he wants to have an impeachment battle. But that indicates an unresolved inner conflict. Is he desperate to have this all over or is he eager to keep up the fight? Hes probably pinging back and forth between both thoughts, but theyre mutually contradictory.

(13,197 posts)He wants to be impeached soon, because then the Republican Senate can exonerate him. The Republican Senate wants it too. They want to exonerate Trump far enough before the election that the stench of what they do has time to fade.

(1,279 posts)the Democrats can call every person who has ever had a business arrangement with Trump. That will take it up to as close as they want to the election. No one can tell the Democrats to stop.

(13,197 posts)It has been said that she can use impeachment proceedings to get whatever she wants. Maybe that is what calling Barr on his lie is about. Impeach Barr in order to call Mueller for testimony. Pelosi will know the ropes and know the right people to talk to.

(11,495 posts)that once impeachment goes to the Senate, it's all over, whether Mitch lets it go up for a vote, or most likely not, trump is off the hook, and will be able to claim the "victim" once again of some evil plot by the Democrats to kick him out of office.
I would agree that he really would like the fight, and he probably thinks it would boost his chance in 2020. You can never really figure out what a narcissist is thinking, but one thing for sure they are always trying to work out a plan to destroy anyone they feel is a threat to them, or who has crossed them in any way.

(15,751 posts)The answer to 'when' is; when trump feels it is to his maximum advantage.
[A key factor is as long as the 'con Senate is failsafe]

(25,485 posts)Perhaps not directly, but he's been testing the waters pretty much since day one. He also knows the Senate won't convict as long as the Rs control it.
He doesn't want the job. He never did. He just wanted to expand the brand.
That being said, it might be his best defense against going to prison post-presidency, so he might want it now for that reason.

(2,787 posts)he does not want to go down as only the 3rd president in history to be impeached, but he also probably doesn't think the congress will impeach him which is part of the reason he is not complying with subpoenas.

(11,498 posts)He didnt want to win, just wanted attention for his business, then winning went to his head but as soon as he saw how hard job is he hired the worst of everyone, he knows what he is doing, then got more and more crazy thinking surely at some point I will be stopped but instead they let him get away with it all.
He would be thrilled to finally have it over. Have Pence take over, republicans wont let him go to jail or anything really bad because he gave them tax cuts and the Supreme Court they wanted.
I dont think he will admit to it but the look on his face after he won said it all.
I think Melania in private probably rips him to threads verbally knowing he cant hurt her.
If he won again I think she would leave, does anyone really think she can do another 4 years?

(18,486 posts)I've always thought that he didn't want to win and didn't expect to.
But I also think that he's not going to go quietly. He wants to be impeached and then not removed so he can try to rub it into Democrats' faces, another example of how he's invincible.
