Righties need to understand that loss of advantage is not the same as a loss of equality

Evaluating how tolerant a liberal society must be of the intolerant is one of the thorny issues of our age. The far and religious right are extremely excised about our refusal to tolerant their intolerance. They warn of a future where conservative ideals and authoritarian religious indoctrination will be a dirty little secret, hiding away from the intolerant liberal utopia of freedom and equality for all but them! You read about it every day, and even though they worship at the feet of the Cult of Trump, and he pampers to their worst excesses of wannabee totalitarian theocracy wet dreams, they STILL feel victimised, persecuted and beaten up (figuratively) because of their ‘Christian’ and/or ‘Conservative’ beliefs.

So why all the angst? I’ll tell you why…. However much they try as they have their last gasps of clinging to power in increasingly diverse communities, they know their power is slipping away, however much it may feel to us right now that it is not. Within a liberal construct people are demanding a fair playing field. To the right this is perceived as an oppression of their belief systems, rather than what it actually is, a huge loss of a systemic and sustained, century’s long, advantage. They will lose their right to dominate, as we no tolerate their intolerance the shock waves shuddering through the right are being felt by all of us.

What the right continues to fail to grasp is that loss of advantage does not mean loss of equality. A community does not become MORE unequal when we ensure that people cannot be discriminated against based on colour, race, religion, sexuality or gender. Currently the religious right are being given the power to impose their belief systems on the wider legal framework, and the wider right wing are going along with it to retain power….this cannot and will not sustain.

They were losing the advantage before Trump

They will lose the advantage after Trump – Their intolerance is INTOLERABLE

They're all in "I have formed my opinion, don't confuse me with the facts" mode.

When privileged elites fought the popular will in the past, the privileged elites often won.
