49 years ago, the Ohio National Guard opened fire on Kent State students.


49 years ago today, we found out that unarmed civilians were seen as dangerous threats, and protests as provocation to lethal force. that our own government would turn weapons on Americans for practicing their right to protest.

to duck the draft and avoid combat in Vietnam. I saw some of the neighborhood kids getting into the NG from knowing somebody who knew somebody.

The guys in the NG knew they were mocked by the regular military guys and campus students, so I believe a good bit of "I'll show them" kind of revenge went down that day.
