I have spent the past two decades trying to get younger women to snap out of their denial and realize that this may well be coming--but to little success. I don't think they'll remain apathetic and falsely reassured in the future.

She returned to be hospitalized with massive bleeding and infection. The police went to her hospital room to interview her. They also questioned her doctor who had hospitalized her.
She did recover and somehow the doctors intervention put a stop to charges. Also, this wasnt the Bible Belt.
I could barely believe this had happened in my own time.
But then I never thought to see where we are now. Headed back there again.
My grandmother told me about the coat hanger and downing straight liquor, jumping off the refrigerator days.

(18,486 posts)maimed several women and killed at least one. He never forgot the photos and his conversations with some of the women who were so desperate that they risked their health and lives to end their pregnancies on a dirty table in a filthy room located literally off of a back alley.
He says that experience is one of the reasons he is staunchly pro-choice (that and the fact that he's a 90-something-year-old feminist badass brotherman)
