Dems v. Trump -- an observation

The Democrats always talk about moving the public along, getting them up to speed, before they can seriously consider impeachment. It recently occurred to me that Trump talks over the beltway bubble and the MSM and takes his message directly to the people, whereas the Democrats are making their case to the establishment. That is, they have meetings behind closed doors and then send letters to people inside the beltway. They are making their case on the inside whereas Trump is mainly making his case to the public.
I think the Dems should put some focus on the public, on making the case to the public, listening to what they want and bringing them along.
I don't feel like I made this point as clear as I wanted but that's the general idea.

hearings in public which the republicans very rarely did. Most of the hearings the republicans held were behind closed doors so we have no idea what the questions and answers were.

If a few of the ones in contempt of congress cools their heels in jail for it could be that won't look good on their resume and they'll come in and testify, or if they get huge fines for not testifying.

Reason they won't come in is they were complicit in the crimes.

is to do it under an impeachment hearing. Contrary to what many people are saying here, impeachment hearings carry more clout with the courts and give Democrats a better argument for the courts to expedite their decisions.

Republicans who ignore subpoenas will never go to jail nor pay fines, there is no one to enforce it.

Forcing Republicans to comply with subpoenas, to release documents to release the grand jury testimony, to release to Congress the entire Mueller report will be decided by the courts. This is why Trump/Barr is challenging everything, they want to delay everything in the courts until after the election. They don't even care if they win or lose the cases. Isn't the first voting coming this February?
