BREAKING: We filed a lawsuit against the Trump Admin’s final ‘refusal of care’ rule which expands the ability of businesses & individuals to refuse to provide necessary health care on the basis of "religious beliefs or moral convictions."

.@HHSGov is giving health care providers free license to openly discriminate & refuse care to patients–a gross misinterpretation of religious freedom that will have devastating consequences on communities across the country.

...if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”

― Barry Goldwater

Said in November 1994, as quoted in John Dean, Conservatives Without Conscience (2006).

This has been coming for a long time. We just didn't worry about it.

Slip off the brain. I think it was Jefferson who was writing to friends about filling the teaching jobs at the new university. One friend had this advice: whatever you do, don't hire Christians from a European university. They are the most quarrelsome people alive and will only cause trouble.

When have religious extremists not spelled trouble?

...by making changes. Old school conservatives want to stay in one spot and change nothing. Reagan Republicans want to make changes that benefit the wealthy and increase their wealth. Donald Trump wants to dismantle the good things that we as a society have done because it has cost the shareholders a few bucks.

since 2012 I've been fighting cancer, the two courses of BCG and the interim treatment have cost VA over $150,000 - just for the BCG, the five bladder surgeries and the partial removal of my colon - who knows how much. The next surgery in June will finally remove my bladder, my prostate, and some of my abdominal/groin area lymph nodes. After spending close to a half million to get me cancer free, alive and peeing normal, they're going to spend around another $100,000 to take all of what they were trying save out and I'll be peeing directly from my kidneys into a bag.

There's no doubt in my mind a privately run VA would find a way to keep an over 65 year old unproductive geezer like me from any of that treatment. I would be eating into the profits. Its always about the money - how to get and keep it away from anybody else.

We'll see how Christian any of these simpletons are when the 5% lets them go into the gutter in event of a nation crisis.

I bet we could make a ridiculous religious case for almost every disease to be tied to sin of that person or their ancestors. They may not like having their hypertension caused by hate thrown back at them, for example.
