I don't recall any of them proclaiming they were a genius.
However a few people of more limited intelligence insisted how smart they were.

AgentOrange definitely fits as the guy who is incompetent and thinks he's a fucking genius.

Glad you found and got it to work. I find it really interesting and true in my life. The people who think they are geniuses are generally fairly dim.

(11,744 posts)sadly the opposite is often true in that the less you know the more sure you are that you know enough. Currently the Dunning-Kruger effect is a popular topic of discussion as a cognitive bias where people over estimate their competence.
In Trump's case I think that it is overcompensation. He likely compared unfavorably to his siblings and received little to no praise from his parent so he developed the persona of the blowhard that he is to soothe those narcissistic wounds. That mixed with the bias known as Dunning-Kruger and Illusory Superiority.
