Robert Mueller’s statement will be ‘substantial’ and not a response to Michael Wolff’s book: WaPo

The Washington Post is reporting that special counsel Robert Mueller is expected to make a “substantial” statement at the Department of Justice on Wednesday and that it won’t just be a refutation of reporter Michael Wolff’s controversial new book claiming that Mueller had drawn up an indictment against President Donald Trump for obstructing justice.

Additionally, the Post reports that “the White House was notified Tuesday night that Mueller planned to make a statement on Wednesday, according to a senior White House official.”

8. Three possibilities
Wed May 29, 2019, 10:19 AM
May 2019

According to Bill Palmer:

Michael Wolff claimed that Special Counsel Robert Mueller went so far as to write up a criminal indictment against Donald Trump for obstruction of justice, before changing his mind and scrapping the whole thing. Mueller’s office is claiming that no such indictment document exists. This means we have a real problem on our hands.

The trouble is, we don’t have any good way of finding out what really happened here. You can each decide who you want to believe or disbelieve, but there are only a few possibilities here. The first is that Mueller wrote up the indictment, changed his mind, and is now lying about it in the hope of preventing the public from knowing that he pulled his punches. The second is that Michael Wolff made this whole thing up to sell books. The third is that some third party has gone to great lengths to deceive Wolff.

Palmer is right, but maybe we'll find out soon.

he's still a doj employee, and it sounds like he's just reading a prepared statement and not taking any questions.

that makes it sounds like he might have wanted to say more or other things, but he agreed with barr to only read a statement that barr was comfortable with.

It would be some real news at least and not more Barr BS.

It would also be good news for us, because if he resigns he's free to testify.

on Stephanie Miller, Mueller will not contradict Bill Barr and plays by the rules and is a institutionist. Malcolm says it is Barr's Justice Department and Mueller is still under the Justice Dept. unless Mueller retires.

Malcolm doesn't trust anything that comes out the Justice Department.

Malcolm said its a rolling conspiracy.

He told Congress very clearly to do their constitutional duty and impeach...

And now they can subpoena him as a witness as part of the investigation (which he also said is allowed).

It must not be a big deal if Trump knows what M. will say but is silent on Twitter. Unless Barr got Trump to say nothing so he could pretend to be surprised.

he had some interesting things to say about this, please refer to my posting above.

But he also mentioned that Barr has the power now of going after those before him like Clapper, and others. I'm sorry I can't recall who else he said. But it's scary stuff
