I M P E A C H M E N T

So Mueller remains enigmatic. He will not be joining any House committees willingly.

Meanwhile, Trump, like it or not, is in a pretty strong position to ride things out and even win in 2020. He has a DOJ that has not lifted a single finger to stop the Russians from fucking with our elections again. He has an Attorney General who works against the people and for him. He has a packed Supreme Court. He has a strangle hold on the Senate. He has the power to bring down any GOPeer who stands against him.

With that, the poll asks: do we impeach?

BONUS:
If you care to expand and expound, what is accomplished by an impeachment that goes down along party lines in the Senate? That's not to say no to impeachment. It is to ask the question and seek your views.

1. Impeachment is a process, thus the problem with these discussions-- start impeachment inquiry

Many on those polls and in these discussions believe "impeachment" means taking the actual VOTE. Thus National poll results are not surprising when that is not where we are at or what should be the question, at all.

If you asked if hearings should continue that MIGHT lead to an impeachment VOTE, the answers WOULD be starkly different.

If you actually called these hearings "impeachment inquiries" but prefaced that they may or may NOT lead to a vote to impeach, the answers would be starkly different.

If you actually called these hearings "impeachment hearings" but again prefaced that they may or may NOT lead to a vote to impeach, the answers would likely be less dramatic but still different.

Impeachment is a process and we, our less biased media allies, and Congress itself have done a piss poor job both discussing it as such and differentiating where we are at now.

3. Respectfully, I think many here know that. The PROBLEM is, the citizenry may well not.

Impeachment IS a political process.

Twitterboy and his posse will win the image and optics war and that's kind of where we are.

6. The point is that one MUST specify what you are talking about. IS it the impeachment VOTE?
Wed May 29, 2019, 12:53 PM

Is it opening inquiries specified as impeachment inquiries? Is it opening up public hearings, specified as impeachment hearings? Is it investigating in a myriad of uncoordinated congressional hearings in the name of accountability assuming their findings will somehow be "married in the end?"

MSM needs to specify. Pundits need to specify. Pollsters need to specify. Congressional leaders need to specify on tv interviews. and yes, YOU need to specify.

11. Impeachment is a word that has meaning. This poll was about impeachment.

That means, should we enter the process formally. A mitigator for some is the Senate.

13. as I repeatedly stated many Americans believe it means calling for the vote. YOU do need to specify

Maybe that annoys you, but it is the truth. Much of our problem in getting our message out is because we are allowing that confusion/misperception to persist.

Your poll didn't say "begin the impeachment PROCESS" , it said (only) "IMPEACHMENT"

just worded differently? I can't tell if that was intentional, but I think it might be.

1. Bipartisanship will NEVER HAPPEN.

2. Opening the inquiry provides Dems with prosecutorial powers to obtain more info.

3. Opening an inquiry focuses the national conversation on the crimes and allows Dems to "teach" America what happened....just as Watergate hearings taught Americans.

Impeachment and Removal are two different goals. Dems don't have to make ANY move toward removal prior to the election.

But the key to success lies in "telling the story" as Brian Williams says the reported needed a "writer" to put it together as a story, not just as a document.

7. How can we say we are any better...

How can we say we are any better if we won't at least begin an Impeachment Inquiry because we think it will hurt us in the 2020 elections?

You can say it's just smart politics, but I'm guessing that's how the Republicans justify not doing anything to themselves.

I know it's not the same, but it still doesn't seem right to me.

One thing I do know, is that if this were a Democratic President, the Republicans would have started the Impeachment process long ago.

their Republican Senators to convict. Otherwise Trump will go around saying he was exonerated. My opinion changes daily though lol.

The question was about impeachment. To get there, you start the process. That's what the question is.

...is that we demonstrate to America that we stand with and for democracy, the rule of law, the Constitution and the American people...we make our case, stand with the law and Constitution then let the voters decide in 2020...

...if we win, the country as we've known it will have been saved...if we lose, then the country will have fundamentally changed and we no longer live in the America we all knew...

...either way, we'll know where we stand...to minimize impeachment or do nothing would down-play the serious crisis we're in...

...I would even say, not to impeach would make us co-conspirators and accomplices...

...besides, impeaching trump would make me happy...

The orange assclown has committed impeachable offenses. Democrats must do the right thing and hold him accountable, even if Republicans will not.
