All he did today was repeat, VERBATIM, what he WROTE in his report. (About NOT finding Trump innocent of obstruction of justice, and about not indicting because of the DOJ memo.) And just having the words come out of his mouth, rather than sitting on a piece of paper which nobody will read has caused a political EARTHQUAKE!Even Fux News has changed their tone about it, stating that what Mueller said is the opposite of what the White House and Barr said. (At least that's what they did before the spin doctors in their back room have had time to think of a way to spin it. By tonight, no doubt, they'll have their talking points nailed down.)
It's fairly obvious. Mueller wrote a BOOK about Trump corruption, and grounds for impeachment...but nobody reads the book. But they'd be more than happy to WATCH THE MOVIE! And, if that's what it takes, THAT'S WHAT THE HOUSE HAS TO DO! THIS WAS PROOF of that!
Republicans know that damned well! That's why, despite having a TRANSCRIPT of Strzok and Page trashing Trump...they FORCED Peter Strzok to simply REPEAT WHAT HE WROTE in front of a TV camera, for 1000X the effect! Shit-face Darrell Issa even ADMITTED that's what he was doing, when he got Strzok to repeat it several times, and Strzok quipped "happy to indulge you."
Alright, now it's OUR turn! Subpoena Mueller to appear before Nadler's committee, and simply REPEAT WHAT HE WROTE in front of a TV camera. Mueller said he wouldn't testify beyond what he wrote in the report. SO!? That's EXACTLY WHAT WE WANT YOU TO DO!
Get on with it, already!

(5,955 posts)If they just look at it, say "I don't want to run with this because it might look partisan," and then put it down, they'll be out of a job pretty damned quick. I'm not saying they won't do that, but the cost will be awfully high.

(7,142 posts)but this fact has to be in the back of Speaker Pelosi's mind. She was Speaker in 2010 when Democrats lost a net 64 House seats to Republicans. I am in no way blaming her for losing control of the House, but I'm just saying I believe this is why she is putting so much weight on the political effects of impeachment.
I can still picture Pelosi handing that oversized gavel to John Boehner, it still makes me sick.

(5,106 posts)Pelosi's reptilian counterpart in the Senate has NEVER been concerned about "looking partisan." He brags about it. This is far different than the Repugs VS (Bill) Clinton.

(15,665 posts)and Maxine W to aggressively pursue their investigations into whether or not to impeach, we will ultimately see tRump impeached, resign in disgrace and facing criminal charges elsewhere, or removed via massive loss of the election in 2020.
I am so happy this morning.

(5,955 posts)kicking and screaming, to the committee. He's doing that to maintain his reputation, but that's okay. If he can keep his credibility intact, by making it look like he didn't WANT to testify, but didn't dare ignore a subpoena, his testimony will carry even more weight.

There are no principals behind saying you don't want to testify.
You took the job...finish it!
There are plenty of unanswered questions. What was the genesis for ending the investigation for one...
Skulking off into stage right is pretty pathetic for a former war hero.
I've had it with politicians unwilling to call something what it is.
Mueller needs to man up, sit in a chair and talk to us.....we've earned that at least putting up with all this crap!

(10,274 posts)That's not a bad thing. Imagine Mueller sitting before a packed Congressional hearing, not during some impromptu statement at the DOJ, with millions and millions of viewers watching intently, answering every question posed by quoting directly from his damning report, maybe even the redacted sections. The effect would be totally devastating.

(10,106 posts)He needs to be on the news every single day, even if all he is doing is repeating what is in his report. Most people have not read the report, and hearing the evidence of Trumps obstruction directly from Mueller is important.

(7,142 posts)I watched 2 minutes of Hannity last night just to get a feel of the propaganda. Gym Jordan was on talking about the coup done with the crooked FBI and about how Hillary paid the crooked Christopher Steele for him to write up a fake dossier to hurt Trump. Jordan, Meadows, and the other clowns will turn a serious hearing into a circus.
I think Mueller will testify but if he doesn't why do we need him to say McGahn told me that Trump told him to fire me? Why can't Nadler get McGahn to testify to say that yes Trump asked me to fire Mueller, why do we need Mueller?
