(7,434 posts)We still are listening to Pelosi, who, during the Bush 43 administration, told us that it was better to move "forward" than to place impeachment on the "table." The result was a rise in the domination of radical Republicans who were never restrained by law, elections, or public opinion. They took Pelosi's refusal as a green light. With no public rebuke, they ran up the tab on pilfering the Constitution. Now we're in a position to once again listen to Pelosi, who, once again, is showing restraint. I won't go further due to my bucking up against DU's TOS.

(7,434 posts)GOPers??
Barr has committed felonies and is unscathed. Jeez. The DC Bar isn't even acting on his criminal behavior. He should have lost his license already. How many ethics complaints as the DC Bar already received regarding Barr, with no response forthcoming? Let's see how long it will take before the Bar decides that they are NOT in the pocket of GOPers who insist on being above the rule of law, and ethics. Don't hold your breath.

(6,936 posts)There has to be consequences to a bully's actions.
Either good consequences of being admired (in his/her mind) by others for being tough, or bad consequences of picking a fight with someone unafraid and will defeat you.
In all cases, no consequences is the same as a win for a bully.
And lastly, teaching a bully a lesson is not priority #1. Teaching a bully a lesson for others to see shows the innocent bystanders and potential victims there is no reason to live in fear. That is priority #1---sometimes a bully is incapable of understanding. But the other 99% can.

(10,080 posts)After the attack in Benghazi, the Republican-controlled House set up the US House Select Committee on Benghazi and held six public hearings solely to damage Hilary Clinton. It did not hurt them at the ballot box. Republicans set up two committees to investigate Hillarys emails. At the time, the media greatly assisted them by failing to present instances of illegal Republican use of emails, as when millions of emails relating to the lead up to the Iraq War were stored on RNA servers and not the required government servers. When subpoenaed to turn over the emails, Karl Rove simply ordered them destroyed and Democrats just let the issue drop. Republicans do not care about the truth or fairness. They go for the jugular and voters usually reward them.
Democrats believe in fairness, and that is good. But its time to fight the bully in the White House and his enablers in the Republican Party. Few bullies work without cohorts egging them on. The Republican lack of action is egging Trump on to do whatever he pleases. So far, it has worked for him. Democrats need to start immediate public hearings on Muellers reportwaiting even a month will lose momentum and the moment will have passed. Does anyone believe that Republicans would have had dozens of hearings and already impeached a Democratic president who had acted exactly as Trump has? We need to fight this the way Republicans wouldnot with lies because the truth is strong enough, but with public hearings and publicizing of their Constitutional duty to serve as a check and balancewhich is why so many Democrats were elected to the House in 2018.

It's time to return the favor and instill some cruel and unusual punishment of our own.
Arrest and perp walk them during a social event in front of friends and family!
No bail and delouse them!
A few of those and they will start to get the message!

(37,453 posts)every morning one of the big lunk jocks would needle me, knock my books out of my hands, grab my tie, just regular crap. This was a Catholic HS and it also had seminary students mixed in. One morning I just said I'm getting him before he has a chance. I ran as hard as I could and slammed him into the books shelf's which came tumbling to the floor along with the jock. I knocked the wind out of him. Now of course I had to go seen the head priest, principle. To my surprise he gave me a chuckle and let me off the hook. This big knucklehead was the guy that got in trouble, In the end he didn't pick on anyone again. So the moral is to stand your ground and surprise the crap out of them when they least expect you to fight back.
